Phoenix, Vikings, and funtimes

Ivy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.

Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

She listns to him talking. Then nods slowly. "Yeah. I'd like that. I've never seen L.A up close so that comparison kinda throws me off. And most Gotham natives just think of it as Gotham...even if they take some pride in the city."

He looks out. "Well, the buildings... they're towering, in a sort of dark way. But there's something magnificent to it, as if you want to go further in and sort out the secrets of the place. Almost like a castle, you know?" He sort of gestures, even though she can't see it. "L.A. is... well, it's a city. It feels like a city. This feels more... mysterious, somehow. I can't explain it too well, honestly..." He rubs the back of his head. "I think that about sums it up."

"Like something out of a Nori film by the sounds of it," she mutters with a slight smirk. "I mean if they had a big budget and stuff."

"Like there'ds something in the back ground? I think I understand. I mean if you walk around the city...It sometimes feels a little opressive. And I don't mean the crime going on now. Almost as if all the crimes done here since the Wayne shootings years ago? Have started to make the city dark. But I don't think anyone really notices that."

"Something like that. Sounds about right, honestly." He looks out. "I wonder if it was a deliberate plan on the architects' part..."

He frowns a little on the crime. "The Wayne shootings?" He has to admit he's a little curious on this one. Chalk it up to his job, and one too many detective novels.

"Actually this city is pretty old. It was founded before the American Civil war anyways. I don't keep too up to date on how old this place is."

"Thomas and Martha Wayne. Two big names in Gotham some thirty years ago. They had been out seeing a Zoorro film wwith their son Bruce. He was...just a kid. Anyways, this petty crook tried mugging them. As the story goes the robbery went south. The parents were killed in front of Bruce, and the crook got away. Anyways. He grew up. He's one of the reasons this city is starting to look better. He invests in alot of projects that have helped make things better for folks who need the help. He's always throwing charity events. Doing everything he can for Gotham. But...it isn't like what it was back in the old days. They never had all these crinimals before."

And of course Bruce Wayne is Batman. But Ivy doesn't know that.

He raises his eyebrows. "Huh. Must've been ahead of its time back in the day." He looks out.

His brow furrows as he listens to the story. He can't help but wander mentally back to Edgeworth, who also lost a parent violently at a young age... and ended up becoming a prosecutor to alleviate his own guilt. "It's good to hear he's channeling his energies into something positive. It could've gone a lot worse," he says. "But that must be hard, watching the city grow more dangerous." He remembers stories when he was younger of the riots that took place in LA, and his parents complaining about how the change in the law system seemed to only make criminals more desperate. He's aware of watching things growing darker.

He watches for a little longer. "We should probably move on. Plenty left to see."

"It was. People loved this place back in it's hayday."

"Well. He does more than that. But due to all the good he tries doing, I think we can forgive him having a new girl on his arm every other month. It's not so bad." She wonders if Wayne does it to cover up the pain. He never got married and is a workaholic businessman. It seems he just wants to forget his past or maybe, just maybe, make the future better for someone else.

"Sure. ...Hmm. What would you like to see? I'm sure I can get us there."

He nods, then listens as she talks about Wayne. "Sounds like a real playboy. I'm more a 'one girl' sort of guy personally. Too many people are all about the sex these days," he says. And he should know. He LIVES in the Nexus, after all.

He smiles. "Well, we haven't hit that Viking exhibit you mentioned... how about that?" He mentally buffs up his describing skill, because yeah.

She giggles just a bit. "He is. But...I guess if he wants to do that we can'tt complain....And your way? More respectable actually. I mean...Um..." She flushes. "I tend to avoid sex even if I'm a very tactile person. Sex is too personal."

Gee, what part has he been in? Ivy was only seriously hit on once.

That brightens up her face. "All right! Umm..Let's go."

She'll be grabbing his hand if he lets her.

He rubs the back of his head. "To each their own. Whatever you're comfortable with, huh?" The no sex thing is a bit disappointing, but on the other hand something of a relief. Far too many awkward situations lately dealing with sex. *cough*

Phoenix would like to find that part she's been in. Sewiously.

He definitely lets her grab his hand. For one thing, it's a nice feeling. Vikings ho.

Well, it more depends on how comfortable she is in a relationship. And that isn't often so while sex could be a possiblity it'd be a while.

Maybe she just breaths a big 'no sexing' vibe?

And off they go. Down to the first floor and through several rooms. She takes the time to let Phoenix see a few things before they get to the room with the big Viking display. Oh look! A line. "...Didn't think there would be a line."

He stares at it. "Typical. Though who'd have thought a MUSEUM would have a line..." He sighs. "Did you still want to go see it? There seems to be plenty of museum if you don't want to bother..." Because OMG that's a big line.

She laughs lightly. "Sure. There's other stuff we can look at. They have a pretty nice Egyptology section.." And she's carefully leading him that way.

Yes it is. Scary long. Maybe the display is wicked cool?

Phoenix allows himself to be led. Because long line is long. And scary. Yes. Besides, Egypt is cool. Can't go wrong with Egypt.

He follows her, looking at each exhibit in turn and explaining him. One exhibit, a section of hieroglyphics, catches his eye particularly. "Wow. I wonder what these say?" he muses.

She looks happy to hear him explain things. And slows down once they're at the Egypt exhibit.

"I'm not sure exactly.." Next to it is a strange helmet. It looks like a falcon's head almost.. And quite ornate. Maybe the hieroglyphics have something to do with it?

It isn't too likely.

Phoenix sees this, and describes it to her. "It's really pretty, actually. Some sort of ceremonial thing, maybe? I wonder why they put it so close to these hieroglyphics..."

He blinks. "Oh, uh, sorry, you're probably not interested in hearing me ramble about weird connections and stuff..." Though he is still curious. Mysteries abound in the Nexus and beyond. "I find it weird they don't post a translation nearby, though."

She listens to him. Then grins just a little. "Sounds pretty neat too. And that's ok. It's interesting hearing you ramble. And yeah...it's a little weird."

She thinks about that. "I heard that on this paticular display that no one could fully translate due to some alien hierogglps in the text..."

He raises an eyebrow. "Alien hieroglyphs?" He can't quite contain the note of disbelief in his voice there, in spite of having been in the Nexus all this time. Maybe it's because he's looking at something that could've been lifted right from home.

"It's possibe," she says seriously. She isn't trying to sound defensive. "The Earth here has been attacked by aliens before. Thankfully Superman and a bunch of other heroes saved us. It was pretty damn intense though. We didn't knw what wul happen to us."

He blinks for a minute. It takes a minute for him to readjust his thought patterns on this front. "O...oh, right. I forgot. This world seems so much like my own I forgot that sort of stuff happens here. Sorry." The name 'Superman' hits an odd bit of familiarity that's more than his comic book fame back home, but he's not sure what it is. "Sounds like it must've been pretty scary though, having aliens invading and the like. Back home we're still debating on whether or not they exist." He sighs. He'd think he'd be more used to this by now.

Poor Phoenix, never had an alien invasion. Well come visit Ivy next time there's one. Should be fun in the 'om my god, we're gonna die' kind of way. Only no death due to amazing luck.

"It's ok. I like to think we're normal too. The fact other Earth's don't always have...this? It's weird to me. For me the idea of aliens, while it's fantastic to know they're real? It...doesn't bug me too much. And...They might not be real in your home dimension. It's entirely possible."

Phoenix sighs. "Well, I sometimes get the idea that our world IS the weird one, having as few odd things happening as it does. About the only thing we can boast is the presence of some psychic abilities here, some spirit channeling there. Which is definitely something, but nothing compared to, well, alien invasions and Superman." He rubs the back of his neck. "I don't know for sure if they're real or not, but they haven't been confirmed yet."

He looks at the display a little longer, pondering. "Shall we move on?"

"Well. There might be folks from Earths similar to yours. I just haven't met them yet." Nope. She wouldn't know anyways due to the being blind thing. "And well...I think I wouldn't mind your Earth. The lack of stress due to super-villians would be so...Nice."

"Sure." She starts walking. Thinking he's going to follow her. She isn't exactly moving in any paticular direction.

"Well, it's got its own share of stresses here and there. Certainly villains. Just not... villains with a penchant for weird themes and machinery." He shrugs. "People tend to find their own ways of being bad. And good. Skies the limit sometimes."

He does, in fact, follow her. "Any other recommendations? We've been walking a good while now..."

He gets a quirked brow. "That's true. People who choose to commit crimes will always find unique ways to go about it. But there'll be folks on the other side doing the right thing too."

"Well, we're in the Egypt section. Maybe you'd like to see the Mummies? It's a classic. Seriously. Plus there's some neat stuff they found with it."
