Phoenix, Vikings, and funtimes
May. 8th, 2007 04:44 pmIvy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.
Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

Date: 2007-05-12 02:18 am (UTC)"Hey, well that just makes it easier to control portions, right? Anyway, it's pretty impressive that you can do that even without, uh..." He suddenly wonders if he's wandering into dangerous territory here. "Well, it's pretty impressive. And probably really good." He grins, a little bit sheepish.
He looks at his cup again. "We can get back to the museum anytime, when you're ready."
((OOC request: Phoenix being in Gotham works out kind of well for part of a long-standing plot sort of thing I've been doing with someone else, and I was wondering if you didn't mind if the plot piggybacks a little on the date here. It won't happen in THIS thread, but I figured you'd want to know considering we'd be using this event as a jumpboard FOR that event. If it's too gauche, go ahead and say no. Just thought I'd ask.))

Date: 2007-05-12 02:26 am (UTC)She looks pleased actually. "I only do pizza if I have company. So they can check the crust for me. Otherwise it can get very tricky. And...well. I hope it's good! Sometimes I mess up."
"I'm ready now. Wanna see if that line cleared up any?"
((I'm giving you the green light. Because it'll probably be really neat. *grin* And plus this is much fun so future threads with you I imagine will be the same.))

Date: 2007-05-12 02:37 am (UTC)Phoenix chuckles. "Well, I hope I can help then. I'm not a horrible cook, but being a bachelor and all I tend to subsist on fast and easy stuff. Or burgers, if I'm with my legal aide." LOTS of burgers.
He stands up, stretching. "Sounds good to me." He's a little indecisive here -- should he help her up, or would she be insulted? Er...
Yeah, she'll probably decide for him.

Date: 2007-05-12 02:53 am (UTC)"Well it isn't too hard. Just mostly watching the color of the crust. When it starts looking crispy it's pretty much redy to eat." She grins a bit. "Burgers are goopd. So long as you don't eat them every day."
She does. She gets up and readjusts her cane to make sure it's steady. "All right. Let's go then."

Date: 2007-05-12 03:53 am (UTC)"Well, if you're Maya? You probably COULD eat them every day. I just can't AFFORD to eat them every day." He rolls his eyes. "I don't know what it is, but half my friends seem to only eat really unhealthy stuff. I don't get it myself."
He takes her hand and leads her back the way he remembers the line being. Hopefully, it's gone down a little. Maybe. Possibly.

Date: 2007-05-12 04:05 am (UTC)"...Wow. I can't eat burgers every day. I'm impressed. How does she stay healthy and...sane? Does she chasr stuff down for you?...'Cause that's the only way I could..." She shrugs. "I et what tases good and is easy to prepare."
Look Phoenix, no more line except for a few people heading in.

Date: 2007-05-12 04:29 am (UTC)Phoenix gets an odd look on his face. "I honestly have no clue. She claims she has a second stomach for, well, practically everything. You'd think she was a a student athlete or something. She is really hyper sometimes, though." He scratches his head. "How DOES she pack it in? Ah well."
He looks and grins. "Hey, lucky us. The line's all gone now. Shall we?"

Date: 2007-05-12 04:46 am (UTC)"...Wow. Um. That's either the most awesome thing ever or very scary."
"Of course." She tugs lightly on his hand as she presses on.

Date: 2007-05-12 05:11 am (UTC)He grins. "You'll have to meet her sometime. She's really something. Love her like a sister, though," he says.
He lets her lead. Inside: Viking stuff! Swords, shields, a replica ship... it's really quite an impressive set-up, and Phoenix explains a lot of things as he goes by. Though he does pause a bit at a helmet. "...Wait, they really DID wear helmets like that? I thought it was a stereotype."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-12 05:21 am (UTC)"I'd like that. She sounds interesting," Ivy says slowly.
She slowlys down to let him stare at the helmet. "I think so. I'm not sure. But I hear they made awesome boats and swords." She doesmn't exactly have a big opinion on the Vikings.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-12 05:29 am (UTC)He moves on, admiring the boat. "It says this is actually rebuilt from a frame found a while back. It's pretty impressive, actually." He describes it to her.

Date: 2007-05-12 05:36 am (UTC)She grins at his disciption. "That sounds so cool Phoenix. And I think there might be proof that they did. Which is equally cool.""

Date: 2007-05-12 05:51 am (UTC)"Really? Wow, that's pretty neat. Of course, I've also heard the Chinese came here at some point... Well, I guess you had to find this place SOONER or later. It's big enough." He shrugs.
A few more relics here and there, including one REALLY ornate looking sword. "Boy, I didn't think they got that fancy," he adds after he finishes describing it.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-12 06:07 am (UTC)"...They did? I didn't know that. This calls for research. Also known as bugging any history buffs I know." She's grining now.
"I think that was the sword a Viking King had. Or at least as close to one as they got. They had some pretty cool stuff I heard."
((Oh god I'm terrible for thinking of that. Or weird.))
no subject
Date: 2007-05-12 06:24 am (UTC)He grins as well. "Good luck on that. I could be totally wrong, but you never know."
"Yeah, no kidding." He stares at it. "Viking kings, huh? Who'd have thought? I always figured they were sort of anarchist or something. Guess it's just the reputation they have."
A little more tooling around checking out the collection, and they finally finish up seeing most of it. "So what's left, then? Seems like we've covered a lot of the museum already," he says.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-13 04:28 am (UTC)She grins right back. "Thanks."
"Oh they had their leaders. I mean, there was Erik the Red. Guys like that made the Vikings a deadly people."
"Well, they have a collection of Miedievil weaponry, and some other odds and ends we haven't visited yet."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-13 09:00 pm (UTC)He nods. "Makes sense. I guesse even cutthroats need someone to hold them together," he comments. "Though I still wouldn't want to meet them."
"Well, I think I can go a wee bit longer. Might as well check all that out." He's usually pretty tired after this long in a museum, and yet somehow he's not feeling it when he's with her. It's a very special feeling.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-13 09:45 pm (UTC)"Neither would I. They seem like a fearsome lot." She just can't get her head around some of the things she heard about them.
"All right, let's go then," she offers him her hand to take. The contact actually makes her really happy.

Date: 2007-05-14 05:27 am (UTC)He nods. "Yeah... though honestly some of the people in the Nexus could probably make them look like pacifists." He winces a bit at the thought.
He takes it, and off they go. So much left to see, so much time in the day. The medieval weaponry is first, since it was suggested, and there's a LOT of it, all of which he describes in detail. "Do you think there ever was an Excaliber?" he asks at one point.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-14 05:55 am (UTC)"True. But I admit, I would so love to meet Thor." She grins brightly. "He was so cool!"
She's leaning on his arm just a bit at this point. Vut on't worry, she's still listening. "I think so. There have been so many things...It has to be real. I can't see it being just a myth."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-15 02:10 am (UTC)"Wait around in the Nexus a bit. It's probably inevitable." He sighs. "You know, I've met Hermes? He doesn't act very godlike."
He nods. "At this point, I wouldn't be surprised anymore, honestly. I've seen so many things that should just be legends in the flesh since I came to the Nexus that the idea of anything NOT existing is stranger now," he says.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-15 03:24 am (UTC)"Well...I'm personally used to weird. While I don't see myself as weird. I don't think anyone really does Pheonix." She grins once more. "Heck to me you seem normal but that's ok."
"...You met Hermes?" She grins very broadly. Fangirl? Why yes. For mythology. "So cool!"
She quitely stands there thinking. Then ends up nodding. "I totally agree with you. It's just...What's normal for us might be a myth for someone else. A myth for us? Fact for someone. It makes the multiverse very interesting."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-15 06:12 am (UTC)"I'm going to take that as a compliment, frankly. I was beginning to worry the Nexus was warping me a little TOO much," he says, grinning.
He nods. "Yeah. He's very casual, actually. You wouldn't think he was a God if you didn't know. I haven't had a chance to talk with him TOO much, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe if you're in the Sanctuary sometime, you'll get a chance to meet him." Was that an incentive? Ooh.
"Yeah. I found out the other day I'm apparently a video game character in another world. You can imagine how brain-breaking THAT was." He rubs his temples a bit as he thinks about it. "Nothing like finding out all the traumas and dramas in your life have been entertainment for someone else."
They seem to finally be running out of things to look at. He turns to her. "Looks like we're hitting the end of the line here..." He's vaguely disappointed. The time seemed to just fly by, somehow.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-15 06:46 am (UTC)She looks pleased. "Nice to see it isn't then. Besides, I think the Nexus just changes s a little."
"Cool. Sounds like he's better than other Gods." She might go there sometime. Of course this might take a little encouragement.
"Seeriously? That's pretty cool," she looks ammused. How can she not? That was pretty awesome.
"That..." She looks a bit deflated now. "Oh. Well...If we saw everything that's good. Right?" And here comes the shy smile again.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-15 09:23 pm (UTC)"Well, I haven't really met many other Gods, so I couldn't say. He SEEMS nice, though, and he did get the anti-violence field working in the Sanctuary again, which is a big plus in my book." He sighs. Such a thing was definitely a necessity lately.
He frowns a bit. "You think so? I'm sort of weirded out by it myself. It means any joe schmoe could come up to me and know my life history based on playing a video game. But I don't know, maybe I'm interrogating this from the wrong perspective." He blinks. Where'd he come up with THAT phrase?
He smiles. "Well, if we hadn't it'd have been a good excuse to see you again, but I guess there's plenty of other ones." It's amazing how attached he's grown to her in this short period of time. It's oddly... liberating, somehow. And, well, if he gets more of that really cute smile, that's also a plus.
They head to the exit. "So do you want me to walk you back home, or...?" There's that little bit of him that doesn't like the idea of a blind woman walking herself home. The more RATIONAL side reminds him she probably does so on a daily basis. It's like a constant little war with him.
