Phoenix, Vikings, and funtimes
May. 8th, 2007 04:44 pmIvy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.
Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

Date: 2007-05-10 01:16 am (UTC)He chcukles. "Mummies, huh? Could be kind of creepy, but it works for me. You sure you really want me to describe ALL the details there?" He grins.

Date: 2007-05-10 01:28 am (UTC)"...Um. You can leave some stuff out. They probably don't look too creepy but my imagination is far too vivid."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 01:46 am (UTC)"So what, nothing about the way they pulled out the brains and stuff? Aw." He can't resist the urge to gross her out a little. Men. But he does let her lead the way into what really is a pretty impressive exhibit.

Date: 2007-05-10 01:53 am (UTC)"...Oh gross!" She squirms a bit. Then pokes his shoulder giving him a pout-glare. Odd combination but it works. "That's evil imagery there. You trying to get me to hide behind you?"
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 02:10 am (UTC)Grinning, he replies. "Now why would I want something like that?" He hums innocently, meandering over to one of the displays. "Nice set-up of things buried with some ancient pharoah here." He describes them, making sure to go into as much detail as he can. "Lot of stuff to lock up forever, don't you think?" He can imagine his own pyramid: tiny and made of wood. Or something. Why couldn't he be rich like other lawyers?
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 02:22 am (UTC)That has her flushing a bit. "I don't know."
She listens to his discriptions. Then ends up grining. "Sounds like this guy really liked his stuff. And cats. Sounds like he had a theme going on...And yeah. I mean..Personally I'd probably have my stuff given away. Oh...And if my dog is still around someonne else can deal with the goofball."
Maybe he needs to get more famous?
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 02:34 am (UTC)He grins a little at her response. Victoly.
"Seems like it. Though cats were sacred, weren't they? Or something like that. It's been a while since I read anything on Egyptian history."
He chuckles. "I don't think anybody would want any of my junk. Half of it's second-hand," he says, a bit sheepishly. Note that he IS famous. He's just way too NICE.
He bounces from leg to leg. "Phew. Wanna take a break? My legs are starting to kill me." Something about museums always seems to wear a person's legs out, somehow.

Date: 2007-05-10 02:47 am (UTC)Well she can't help it. Probably will stay red for a little while.
"Depended on what the Pharaoh decided. They belived he was the son of Ra. If he liked cats enough they were scared in the palace. Of course some villages held them scared regaudless of what the Pharaoh said."
And this is were she smiles at him again. He gets lots of thoes from her. "That's not so bad. I mean...It's pretty normal to have second-hand stuff." She just doesn't. Except her couch and coffee machine.
So long as he isn't poor that's ok.
"Sure. We could go grab something to drink in the caefeteria?"
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 02:54 am (UTC)"Well, that's good to hear. I don't make a lot, so I try to keep things in a budget for the most part." Never mind that the budget increased a bit thanks to living in the Sanctuary. Old habits are hard to break.
Not THAT poor. But hardly as well off as he could be considering he's a lawyer.
"Sounds like a plan to me. Which way?" he asks.

Date: 2007-05-10 03:23 am (UTC)She grins lightly. "You seem to be doing fine though. I mean your job seems to make you happy. That's better than making money."
This is true. But he isn't running in the red. And not all lawyers are rich anyways.
"Ummm...Hold on I forget."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 04:32 am (UTC)He nods. "I'm doing what I think is right, and I know at least one guy on the other side who helps me do it even better. I'm pretty satisfied." And he is, when he thinks about it.
He blinks. "You forget? Well, maybe if we just follow the signs, we'll find it soon enough." He looks for one -- ah, there we go. "Here, lemme lead this time," he says, taking her hand again.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 04:58 am (UTC)That gets her grining. "Good. Because everyone should be happy with their work."
"Yeah. I usually don't need to sit. I like to keep moving in here." She lets him take her hand and the lead. She isn't afraid to admit when she's lost.

Date: 2007-05-10 05:11 am (UTC)"I agree! So many people get into jobs they can't stand. I'm actually a little surprised how well I've taken to it, though." He shrugs. "You never know, huh?"
He follows the signs, and eventually finds the cafeteria. Naturally, things are a weeee pricier than he'd like, but what can you do? Then something occurs to him. "Uh, they take US dollars here, right? There isn't some sort of weird different currency?" Because he'd have problems if they did.

Date: 2007-05-10 05:47 am (UTC)She grins in his direction. "Hope whatever I end doing I enjoy too."
"....This is New Jersy. Why wouldn't they?" She seems a bit startled. "They're pretty good about 'normal' money."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-10 10:03 pm (UTC)"Well, let's hope I find someone like that, huh?" He grins.
He nods. "You may need to. Prosecution, defense, one side or the other gets villified at some point. You have to be pretty sure of your convictions during those moments." He sounds as though he speaks from experience.
"Um, well yeah, but I didn't know if money looked different from world to world, or something. You know what I mean? Um." He feels kinda silly, honestly. Still, he goes over to the counter. "What would you like? I'm buying." He shuts up that tiny little mental whimper when he says that.

Date: 2007-05-11 12:29 am (UTC)"I think you might."
She grins faintly. "That I can understand. Pressure can be pretty heavy."
"Um...Nope. Never went shopping else where. And coffee sounds great." Living off of coffee? Well of course! Normal for any College student.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 01:20 am (UTC)He decides to take the chance and buys them both coffee. Thankfully, his money IS the same, and they're soon at a table together. "Um, I didn't ask for anything too fancy, I'm afraid..." he says. "There should be some sugar packets and the like if you want me to get them?"
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 01:34 am (UTC)She chuckles. "Black is fine. If I have too much sugar I become a total spazz."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 01:45 am (UTC)He snickers. "Sounds a little like my legal aide. She's a bit spastic without it sometimes, mind..." He shrugs. "Brings energy to the office though." He sips at his own coffee. A little bitter, but eh.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 01:54 am (UTC)"But enrgy is good!" She grins a little. "Of course I only add sigar if I know I'll be walking my dog."
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 03:27 am (UTC)Phoenix grins. "Yeah. You actually care about getting to the truth, and not just getting a good record. That's important, you know." He nods. "You have to be prepared to lose sometime to make sure the truth gets out. But you have to stand by what you're doing, or else you're doing everyone a disservice. So I've learned, anyway." Fairly recently, actually, but he doesn't tell her that.
"Ho boy. Energetic sucker?" he asks.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 03:42 am (UTC)"If someone is innocent? I don't mind them going free. But if they are found guilty with all the evidence pointing towards them? Then I'll do my duty by making sure everyone in the court knows who did the crime." Well he is fairly young so it does make sense.
"Yes and it's like being pulled around by a poney." She's grining though. "...He's such a sweet heart though."

Date: 2007-05-11 03:46 am (UTC)"Good to hear. I have a friend you should talk to sometime. Granted, as I said, our law system is pretty messed up, but he's the best damn prosecutor you could ask for anyway, especially now." He nods. "I think he could offer some good advice. Warning, though, he's a bit arrogant."
"Heh heh. I'm sure he is. I'd like a pet sometime, but I have a hard enough time keeping the place up and going for MYSELF sometimes," he says. He sips some more coffee, watching some of the people passing by.
no subject
Date: 2007-05-11 04:01 am (UTC)She grins lightly. "Well arrogance isn't so bad. I think I'd like talking to him sometime."
She ends upgiggling. "Just be careful. Pets can be expensive. But...Cydric isn't so bad. Except he acts like a puppy. Is easily distracted. And way too friendly with cats who don't understand he isn't
She grins lightly. "Well arrogance isn't so bad. I think I'd like talking to him sometime."
She ends upgiggling. "Just be careful. Pets can be expensive. But...Cydric isn't so bad. Except he acts like a puppy. Is easily distracted. And way too friendly with cats who don't understand he isn't <itrying</i> to eat them...He just wants to play."
And Ivy? Is enjoying comsuming her coffee.

Date: 2007-05-11 04:14 am (UTC)"I think you might. Maybe later after we've gotten to know each other better?" He raises his eyebrows hopefully.
He winces a bit. "Oof, there's the magic word, there, 'expensive.' I'm pretty picky on my cases, so I don't make as much as some lawyers. So I have to budget things pretty carefully." [Especially since people keep tossing extra financial burdens on me,] he adds to himself slightly bitterly. He's still not sure why they do that.
He's enjoying the company, himself. The coffee could be better, but it sort of fades away in the company of someone like this.
