Ivy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.

Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

"Yeah. And this is mostly due to the fact that so many people are fed up with some of these crinimals but the city and courts are doing the best they can." A fusterated look passes over her face. "It seems like it's an endless cycle."

"If someone is innocent? I don't mind them going free. But if they are found guilty with all the evidence pointing towards them? Then I'll do my duty by making sure everyone in the court knows who did the crime." Well he is fairly young so it does make sense.

"Yes and it's like being pulled around by a poney." She's grining though. "...He's such a sweet heart though."

He chuckles. "People were fed up with criminals back home. It's why we have this stupid three-day trial system. If you don't finish in three days, BAM. Guy's guilty. It's pretty horrible." He sighs. "Talk about uphill battles, huh? At least you guys get all the time in the world." He shakes his head.

"Good to hear. I have a friend you should talk to sometime. Granted, as I said, our law system is pretty messed up, but he's the best damn prosecutor you could ask for anyway, especially now." He nods. "I think he could offer some good advice. Warning, though, he's a bit arrogant."

"Heh heh. I'm sure he is. I'd like a pet sometime, but I have a hard enough time keeping the place up and going for MYSELF sometimes," he says. He sips some more coffee, watching some of the people passing by.

Her eyebrows quirk up. "That's taking Due Process to the extrem, don't you think?" She nods lightly. "Yeah. I mean trials can change people's lives so there should be time to go over everything."

She grins lightly. "Well arrogance isn't so bad. I think I'd like talking to him sometime."

She ends upgiggling. "Just be careful. Pets can be expensive. But...Cydric isn't so bad. Except he acts like a puppy. Is easily distracted. And way too friendly with cats who don't understand he isn't

And Ivy? Is enjoying comsuming her coffee.

"Well, a lot of times people just want to have SOMEBODY to blame. Which is why it's important that if you get a guy off, you get him THOROUGHLY off. No doubts can remain at the end of it, or else he stays guilty in the public eye," he says. "It's why I usually try to find the real culprits in the process of getting my client off. If you know who really did it, you can't blame the person who didn't unless you're really vindictive."

"I think you might. Maybe later after we've gotten to know each other better?" He raises his eyebrows hopefully.

He winces a bit. "Oof, there's the magic word, there, 'expensive.' I'm pretty picky on my cases, so I don't make as much as some lawyers. So I have to budget things pretty carefully." [Especially since people keep tossing extra financial burdens on me,] he adds to himself slightly bitterly. He's still not sure why they do that.

He's enjoying the company, himself. The coffee could be better, but it sort of fades away in the company of someone like this.

She nods lightly. "That makes alot of sense actually. Alot more than some of my Professors make it sound."

She gives him a grin. "I'd like that. I mean, I don't want to act over egar but..Would you like to go out again sometime? Or I could try making pizza for us."

She gives him a slight grin. "Well you could always borrow Cedric to get the need for a pet out of your system...Or get fish. Once you get the stuff they need? Fairly easy to keep as long as you need them and clean their tank out every few weeks."

Yeah the company is nice. With the right company? Something like this is just so much more fun.

"Yeah, some things you really just have to get out there and learn through experience. But I also had a mentor who helped keep me straight, and that affected my viewpoint a lot." He smiles softly, thinking of Mia. Well, his Mia, anyway. Another thing he'll tell her later.

He perks up. "Yeah, I'd like that. A lot, actually. You a pretty good chef? I should see for myself." He grins.

"A fish, eh?" He seems to be pondering this seriously. "Might be something to consider. Though the Sanctuary's already got one." A big one. Blocking an ocean. He's not about to explain THAT one because he still doesn't get it.

With all the good company, he doesn't notice his coffee's gone until a few minutes after he's finished. Huh.

She grins at him again. "Then I guess it's a good thing I managed to snag a pretty cool internship for the summer."

"Well pizza is pretty easy actually. And I don't do the frozen kind." Still grining back! He gets her to smile and grin alot which is mega awesome.

She tilts her head. "Really? What kind?"

"Really? Wow, that's pretty good. Who's it with? Um, not that I'd really RECOGNIZE it, I'm just kinda curious..." Phew, he feels nosy.

"Ha. I have too much of that as is anyway. I think anything home-cooked would be an improvement," he says. He likes that smile. It's a nice smile.

He thinks. "I... think it's a betta." He pauses. "A really, really, really big betta."

"Forest and Summers. They're not exactly big time but they're really good. I thought I could learn a thing or two from them." Oh but he asked so he gets answers!

"Well then you'll like the way I do it. Of course I tend to have to make several because they tend to be kinda small...." She doesn't know he's smiling but she highly suspects he is!
"...But they're not supposed to get that big." If she really knew she would so totally face fault!

"Well, I hope that works out. Be sure to soak up everything. Nothing like hearing from the voice of experience." He nods, as if familiar with this idea.

"Hey, well that just makes it easier to control portions, right? Anyway, it's pretty impressive that you can do that even without, uh..." He suddenly wonders if he's wandering into dangerous territory here. "Well, it's pretty impressive. And probably really good." He grins, a little bit sheepish.

He looks at his cup again. "We can get back to the museum anytime, when you're ready."

((OOC request: Phoenix being in Gotham works out kind of well for part of a long-standing plot sort of thing I've been doing with someone else, and I was wondering if you didn't mind if the plot piggybacks a little on the date here. It won't happen in THIS thread, but I figured you'd want to know considering we'd be using this event as a jumpboard FOR that event. If it's too gauche, go ahead and say no. Just thought I'd ask.))

"Yeah. I'm hoping to learn alot from them this Summer," she's grining. His advice is quite welcome.

She looks pleased actually. "I only do pizza if I have company. So they can check the crust for me. Otherwise it can get very tricky. And...well. I hope it's good! Sometimes I mess up."

"I'm ready now. Wanna see if that line cleared up any?"

((I'm giving you the green light. Because it'll probably be really neat. *grin* And plus this is much fun so future threads with you I imagine will be the same.))

"You'll have to tell me how it goes. I mean, it'd be terrible if they just thought you should make coffee, or something," he says, rubbing the back of his neck. He'd heard STORIES from some law graduates.

Phoenix chuckles. "Well, I hope I can help then. I'm not a horrible cook, but being a bachelor and all I tend to subsist on fast and easy stuff. Or burgers, if I'm with my legal aide." LOTS of burgers.

He stands up, stretching. "Sounds good to me." He's a little indecisive here -- should he help her up, or would she be insulted? Er...

Yeah, she'll probably decide for him.

"If they do I'll politely inform them that it's discrimination to assume I can only make coffee." See that smile? It's a tight annoyed one. Not at Phoenix just at other people.

"Well it isn't too hard. Just mostly watching the color of the crust. When it starts looking crispy it's pretty much redy to eat." She grins a bit. "Burgers are goopd. So long as you don't eat them every day."

She does. She gets up and readjusts her cane to make sure it's steady. "All right. Let's go then."

Phoenix laughs. "Oooh, I'd love to see the looks on their faces if you have to pull that one. It'd be a Kodak moment." Grinning, he adds, "You've definitely got the fire to be a prosecutor, that's for certain."

"Well, if you're Maya? You probably COULD eat them every day. I just can't AFFORD to eat them every day." He rolls his eyes. "I don't know what it is, but half my friends seem to only eat really unhealthy stuff. I don't get it myself."

He takes her hand and leads her back the way he remembers the line being. Hopefully, it's gone down a little. Maybe. Possibly.

She grins almost feraly. "I would pull that card out if they pulled anything stupid on me. I'm just as smart as anyone else, capable too. Heck, I'm also damn good at filing if they need me for that."

"...Wow. I can't eat burgers every day. I'm impressed. How does she stay healthy and...sane? Does she chasr stuff down for you?...'Cause that's the only way I could..." She shrugs. "I et what tases good and is easy to prepare."

Look Phoenix, no more line except for a few people heading in.

"Well, I can't imagine they'd be TOO dismissive. I'm sure you'd prove yourself to be capable of a lot more than that soon enough anyway." He nods. He's really sure of it, too.

Phoenix gets an odd look on his face. "I honestly have no clue. She claims she has a second stomach for, well, practically everything. You'd think she was a a student athlete or something. She is really hyper sometimes, though." He scratches his head. "How DOES she pack it in? Ah well."

He looks and grins. "Hey, lucky us. The line's all gone now. Shall we?"

"They won't be I'm sure. But better safe than sorry." She pauses and bushes. "Thanks."

"...Wow. Um. That's either the most awesome thing ever or very scary."

"Of course." She tugs lightly on his hand as she presses on.

"No problem. I've got confidence in you." And he does, somehow. Wow.

He grins. "You'll have to meet her sometime. She's really something. Love her like a sister, though," he says.

He lets her lead. Inside: Viking stuff! Swords, shields, a replica ship... it's really quite an impressive set-up, and Phoenix explains a lot of things as he goes by. Though he does pause a bit at a helmet. "...Wait, they really DID wear helmets like that? I thought it was a stereotype."

From: [identity profile] blindingtrust.livejournal.com
"Really?...Thanks!" She beams in his direcytion.

"I'd like that. She sounds interesting," Ivy says slowly.

She slowlys down to let him stare at the helmet. "I think so. I'm not sure. But I hear they made awesome boats and swords." She doesmn't exactly have a big opinion on the Vikings.

From: [identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
"Hmm. Don't know too much about vikings, aside from the popular myths about them. You know, raping the villages and looting the women. That sort of stuff." He rubs the back of his neck. "I heard they might've been one of the first folks to find America, though. I wonder if that's true?"

He moves on, admiring the boat. "It says this is actually rebuilt from a frame found a while back. It's pretty impressive, actually." He describes it to her.

She pauses then shakes her head. "They raped the women and pillaged the villages here. At least that's the generalization."

She grins at his disciption. "That sounds so cool Phoenix. And I think there might be proof that they did. Which is equally cool.""

He grins nervously. "I was kind of making a bit of a joke... oh well. But yeah, they sound like a really rowdy, nasty bunch on a whole. Though I bet there's more to it than we hear mostly."

"Really? Wow, that's pretty neat. Of course, I've also heard the Chinese came here at some point... Well, I guess you had to find this place SOONER or later. It's big enough." He shrugs.

A few more relics here and there, including one REALLY ornate looking sword. "Boy, I didn't think they got that fancy," he adds after he finishes describing it.

From: [identity profile] blindingtrust.livejournal.com
"Oh good. Because the mental image of Vikings chasing after buckets with their manskirts down around their ankles is now stuck in my head for good." That was just wrong. Oh so wrong.

"...They did? I didn't know that. This calls for research. Also known as bugging any history buffs I know." She's grining now.

"I think that was the sword a Viking King had. Or at least as close to one as they got. They had some pretty cool stuff I heard."

((Oh god I'm terrible for thinking of that. Or weird.))

Date: 2007-05-12 06:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
Phoenix ... has absolutely no answer to that. "Uh..." You'd think after the Nexus, he'd be used to weird mental images. He shakes his head. "I... well, now it's stuck in MY head. Agh." Phew, that's gonna STAY there for a while.

He grins as well. "Good luck on that. I could be totally wrong, but you never know."

"Yeah, no kidding." He stares at it. "Viking kings, huh? Who'd have thought? I always figured they were sort of anarchist or something. Guess it's just the reputation they have."

A little more tooling around checking out the collection, and they finally finish up seeing most of it. "So what's left, then? Seems like we've covered a lot of the museum already," he says.

From: [identity profile] blindingtrust.livejournal.com
"...Oh god. I shouldn't have said that. I'm s sorry! Really!" Now she might flail in emvaressment.

She grins right back. "Thanks."

"Oh they had their leaders. I mean, there was Erik the Red. Guys like that made the Vikings a deadly people."

"Well, they have a collection of Miedievil weaponry, and some other odds and ends we haven't visited yet."
