Phoenix, Vikings, and funtimes

Ivy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.

Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

Well, it more depends on how comfortable she is in a relationship. And that isn't often so while sex could be a possiblity it'd be a while.

Maybe she just breaths a big 'no sexing' vibe?

And off they go. Down to the first floor and through several rooms. She takes the time to let Phoenix see a few things before they get to the room with the big Viking display. Oh look! A line. "...Didn't think there would be a line."

He stares at it. "Typical. Though who'd have thought a MUSEUM would have a line..." He sighs. "Did you still want to go see it? There seems to be plenty of museum if you don't want to bother..." Because OMG that's a big line.

She laughs lightly. "Sure. There's other stuff we can look at. They have a pretty nice Egyptology section.." And she's carefully leading him that way.

Yes it is. Scary long. Maybe the display is wicked cool?

Phoenix allows himself to be led. Because long line is long. And scary. Yes. Besides, Egypt is cool. Can't go wrong with Egypt.

He follows her, looking at each exhibit in turn and explaining him. One exhibit, a section of hieroglyphics, catches his eye particularly. "Wow. I wonder what these say?" he muses.

She looks happy to hear him explain things. And slows down once they're at the Egypt exhibit.

"I'm not sure exactly.." Next to it is a strange helmet. It looks like a falcon's head almost.. And quite ornate. Maybe the hieroglyphics have something to do with it?

It isn't too likely.

Phoenix sees this, and describes it to her. "It's really pretty, actually. Some sort of ceremonial thing, maybe? I wonder why they put it so close to these hieroglyphics..."

He blinks. "Oh, uh, sorry, you're probably not interested in hearing me ramble about weird connections and stuff..." Though he is still curious. Mysteries abound in the Nexus and beyond. "I find it weird they don't post a translation nearby, though."

She listens to him. Then grins just a little. "Sounds pretty neat too. And that's ok. It's interesting hearing you ramble. And yeah...it's a little weird."

She thinks about that. "I heard that on this paticular display that no one could fully translate due to some alien hierogglps in the text..."

He raises an eyebrow. "Alien hieroglyphs?" He can't quite contain the note of disbelief in his voice there, in spite of having been in the Nexus all this time. Maybe it's because he's looking at something that could've been lifted right from home.

"It's possibe," she says seriously. She isn't trying to sound defensive. "The Earth here has been attacked by aliens before. Thankfully Superman and a bunch of other heroes saved us. It was pretty damn intense though. We didn't knw what wul happen to us."

He blinks for a minute. It takes a minute for him to readjust his thought patterns on this front. "O...oh, right. I forgot. This world seems so much like my own I forgot that sort of stuff happens here. Sorry." The name 'Superman' hits an odd bit of familiarity that's more than his comic book fame back home, but he's not sure what it is. "Sounds like it must've been pretty scary though, having aliens invading and the like. Back home we're still debating on whether or not they exist." He sighs. He'd think he'd be more used to this by now.

Poor Phoenix, never had an alien invasion. Well come visit Ivy next time there's one. Should be fun in the 'om my god, we're gonna die' kind of way. Only no death due to amazing luck.

"It's ok. I like to think we're normal too. The fact other Earth's don't always have...this? It's weird to me. For me the idea of aliens, while it's fantastic to know they're real? It...doesn't bug me too much. And...They might not be real in your home dimension. It's entirely possible."

Phoenix sighs. "Well, I sometimes get the idea that our world IS the weird one, having as few odd things happening as it does. About the only thing we can boast is the presence of some psychic abilities here, some spirit channeling there. Which is definitely something, but nothing compared to, well, alien invasions and Superman." He rubs the back of his neck. "I don't know for sure if they're real or not, but they haven't been confirmed yet."

He looks at the display a little longer, pondering. "Shall we move on?"

"Well. There might be folks from Earths similar to yours. I just haven't met them yet." Nope. She wouldn't know anyways due to the being blind thing. "And well...I think I wouldn't mind your Earth. The lack of stress due to super-villians would be so...Nice."

"Sure." She starts walking. Thinking he's going to follow her. She isn't exactly moving in any paticular direction.

"Well, it's got its own share of stresses here and there. Certainly villains. Just not... villains with a penchant for weird themes and machinery." He shrugs. "People tend to find their own ways of being bad. And good. Skies the limit sometimes."

He does, in fact, follow her. "Any other recommendations? We've been walking a good while now..."

He gets a quirked brow. "That's true. People who choose to commit crimes will always find unique ways to go about it. But there'll be folks on the other side doing the right thing too."

"Well, we're in the Egypt section. Maybe you'd like to see the Mummies? It's a classic. Seriously. Plus there's some neat stuff they found with it."

"True enough. I guess in the end it depends on how you want to do things. I prefer to work through the law, myself. So many people get lost in the system." He sighs, shaking his head. "I want to help those people. Sometimes I'm the only person they've got."

He chcukles. "Mummies, huh? Could be kind of creepy, but it works for me. You sure you really want me to describe ALL the details there?" He grins.

"I think I can understand that. Some people accused of crimes really are innocent. And they do need someone willing to look out for their best interests." She grins lightly. "But I know I'll still go for the prosecution side of things...No trying to convernt me with your charm." So she's teasing him a bit.

"...Um. You can leave some stuff out. They probably don't look too creepy but my imagination is far too vivid."

He snaps his fingers. "Curses, foiled again." He chuckles. "Well, it's not for everybody. I kind of had an idea at a really young age, though I didn't really cement it until college." He saves the details for another time. Not quite ready to go into them yet.

"So what, nothing about the way they pulled out the brains and stuff? Aw." He can't resist the urge to gross her out a little. Men. But he does let her lead the way into what really is a pretty impressive exhibit.

She just flushes a bit and grins sheepishly. Darn, it's his voice. Rather abimated. "And...I think that might be something you'll tell me latter?" Well she is all curious!

"...Oh gross!" She squirms a bit. Then pokes his shoulder giving him a pout-glare. Odd combination but it works. "That's evil imagery there. You trying to get me to hide behind you?"

"Yeah, hopefully. Not quite yet. It's pretty personal." Like the formation of his whole life personal, yeah. "But I'll tell you one day."

Grinning, he replies. "Now why would I want something like that?" He hums innocently, meandering over to one of the displays. "Nice set-up of things buried with some ancient pharoah here." He describes them, making sure to go into as much detail as he can. "Lot of stuff to lock up forever, don't you think?" He can imagine his own pyramid: tiny and made of wood. Or something. Why couldn't he be rich like other lawyers?

She actually seems pretty happy about that. "I'd like that but only when you feel comfortable telling me."

That has her flushing a bit. "I don't know."

She listens to his discriptions. Then ends up grining. "Sounds like this guy really liked his stuff. And cats. Sounds like he had a theme going on...And yeah. I mean..Personally I'd probably have my stuff given away. Oh...And if my dog is still around someonne else can deal with the goofball."

Maybe he needs to get more famous?

He nods. "Hopefully that'll be soon. It's a long story."

He grins a little at her response. Victoly.

"Seems like it. Though cats were sacred, weren't they? Or something like that. It's been a while since I read anything on Egyptian history."

He chuckles. "I don't think anybody would want any of my junk. Half of it's second-hand," he says, a bit sheepishly. Note that he IS famous. He's just way too NICE.

He bounces from leg to leg. "Phew. Wanna take a break? My legs are starting to kill me." Something about museums always seems to wear a person's legs out, somehow.

She's listening to him. Her form of watching. "Well when you feel like it I'll get the coffee," she says simply.

Well she can't help it. Probably will stay red for a little while.

"Depended on what the Pharaoh decided. They belived he was the son of Ra. If he liked cats enough they were scared in the palace. Of course some villages held them scared regaudless of what the Pharaoh said."
And this is were she smiles at him again. He gets lots of thoes from her. "That's not so bad. I mean...It's pretty normal to have second-hand stuff." She just doesn't. Except her couch and coffee machine.

So long as he isn't poor that's ok.

"Sure. We could go grab something to drink in the caefeteria?"

He listens to her talk Egypt. "Wow, you seem to know quite a bit. I'm impressed." And he is. He doesn't know much at all, frankly, history being one of those subjects he tended to fall asleep during in school. "You read a lot on the side?"

"Well, that's good to hear. I don't make a lot, so I try to keep things in a budget for the most part." Never mind that the budget increased a bit thanks to living in the Sanctuary. Old habits are hard to break.

Not THAT poor. But hardly as well off as he could be considering he's a lawyer.

"Sounds like a plan to me. Which way?" he asks.

She flushes shyly. "It's a hobby. I read alot because well...Um. I tend to find myself um....ummm..." Uh oh. She's going non-verbal. Wait words are retturning. "...My weekends are pretty much empty due to my friends dating and I don't date..much."

She grins lightly. "You seem to be doing fine though. I mean your job seems to make you happy. That's better than making money."

This is true. But he isn't running in the red. And not all lawyers are rich anyways.

"Ummm...Hold on I forget."
