Ivy had found something to wear of course. Like most women she has a cloest full of clothes. So she's ready for anything the weather might bring. Right not she's waiting in the shade of a tree listening to the people going past her. Thankfully the city is cooling down. And it also will be nice to get inside the museum. After all, there is all that nice air condtioning.

Oh, and of course a date. That's a plus that can make any girl forget how hot out it is. After all, it had been a long time for her. Like ten month period. Then again she is pretty damn sure that Phoenix has just as much trouble, or more trouble, than she does.

"You'll have to tell me how it goes. I mean, it'd be terrible if they just thought you should make coffee, or something," he says, rubbing the back of his neck. He'd heard STORIES from some law graduates.

Phoenix chuckles. "Well, I hope I can help then. I'm not a horrible cook, but being a bachelor and all I tend to subsist on fast and easy stuff. Or burgers, if I'm with my legal aide." LOTS of burgers.

He stands up, stretching. "Sounds good to me." He's a little indecisive here -- should he help her up, or would she be insulted? Er...

Yeah, she'll probably decide for him.

"If they do I'll politely inform them that it's discrimination to assume I can only make coffee." See that smile? It's a tight annoyed one. Not at Phoenix just at other people.

"Well it isn't too hard. Just mostly watching the color of the crust. When it starts looking crispy it's pretty much redy to eat." She grins a bit. "Burgers are goopd. So long as you don't eat them every day."

She does. She gets up and readjusts her cane to make sure it's steady. "All right. Let's go then."

Phoenix laughs. "Oooh, I'd love to see the looks on their faces if you have to pull that one. It'd be a Kodak moment." Grinning, he adds, "You've definitely got the fire to be a prosecutor, that's for certain."

"Well, if you're Maya? You probably COULD eat them every day. I just can't AFFORD to eat them every day." He rolls his eyes. "I don't know what it is, but half my friends seem to only eat really unhealthy stuff. I don't get it myself."

He takes her hand and leads her back the way he remembers the line being. Hopefully, it's gone down a little. Maybe. Possibly.

She grins almost feraly. "I would pull that card out if they pulled anything stupid on me. I'm just as smart as anyone else, capable too. Heck, I'm also damn good at filing if they need me for that."

"...Wow. I can't eat burgers every day. I'm impressed. How does she stay healthy and...sane? Does she chasr stuff down for you?...'Cause that's the only way I could..." She shrugs. "I et what tases good and is easy to prepare."

Look Phoenix, no more line except for a few people heading in.

"Well, I can't imagine they'd be TOO dismissive. I'm sure you'd prove yourself to be capable of a lot more than that soon enough anyway." He nods. He's really sure of it, too.

Phoenix gets an odd look on his face. "I honestly have no clue. She claims she has a second stomach for, well, practically everything. You'd think she was a a student athlete or something. She is really hyper sometimes, though." He scratches his head. "How DOES she pack it in? Ah well."

He looks and grins. "Hey, lucky us. The line's all gone now. Shall we?"

"They won't be I'm sure. But better safe than sorry." She pauses and bushes. "Thanks."

"...Wow. Um. That's either the most awesome thing ever or very scary."

"Of course." She tugs lightly on his hand as she presses on.

"No problem. I've got confidence in you." And he does, somehow. Wow.

He grins. "You'll have to meet her sometime. She's really something. Love her like a sister, though," he says.

He lets her lead. Inside: Viking stuff! Swords, shields, a replica ship... it's really quite an impressive set-up, and Phoenix explains a lot of things as he goes by. Though he does pause a bit at a helmet. "...Wait, they really DID wear helmets like that? I thought it was a stereotype."

"Really?...Thanks!" She beams in his direcytion.

"I'd like that. She sounds interesting," Ivy says slowly.

She slowlys down to let him stare at the helmet. "I think so. I'm not sure. But I hear they made awesome boats and swords." She doesmn't exactly have a big opinion on the Vikings.

"Hmm. Don't know too much about vikings, aside from the popular myths about them. You know, raping the villages and looting the women. That sort of stuff." He rubs the back of his neck. "I heard they might've been one of the first folks to find America, though. I wonder if that's true?"

He moves on, admiring the boat. "It says this is actually rebuilt from a frame found a while back. It's pretty impressive, actually." He describes it to her.

She pauses then shakes her head. "They raped the women and pillaged the villages here. At least that's the generalization."

She grins at his disciption. "That sounds so cool Phoenix. And I think there might be proof that they did. Which is equally cool.""

He grins nervously. "I was kind of making a bit of a joke... oh well. But yeah, they sound like a really rowdy, nasty bunch on a whole. Though I bet there's more to it than we hear mostly."

"Really? Wow, that's pretty neat. Of course, I've also heard the Chinese came here at some point... Well, I guess you had to find this place SOONER or later. It's big enough." He shrugs.

A few more relics here and there, including one REALLY ornate looking sword. "Boy, I didn't think they got that fancy," he adds after he finishes describing it.

"Oh good. Because the mental image of Vikings chasing after buckets with their manskirts down around their ankles is now stuck in my head for good." That was just wrong. Oh so wrong.

"...They did? I didn't know that. This calls for research. Also known as bugging any history buffs I know." She's grining now.

"I think that was the sword a Viking King had. Or at least as close to one as they got. They had some pretty cool stuff I heard."

((Oh god I'm terrible for thinking of that. Or weird.))

Date: 2007-05-12 06:24 am (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
Phoenix ... has absolutely no answer to that. "Uh..." You'd think after the Nexus, he'd be used to weird mental images. He shakes his head. "I... well, now it's stuck in MY head. Agh." Phew, that's gonna STAY there for a while.

He grins as well. "Good luck on that. I could be totally wrong, but you never know."

"Yeah, no kidding." He stares at it. "Viking kings, huh? Who'd have thought? I always figured they were sort of anarchist or something. Guess it's just the reputation they have."

A little more tooling around checking out the collection, and they finally finish up seeing most of it. "So what's left, then? Seems like we've covered a lot of the museum already," he says.

"...Oh god. I shouldn't have said that. I'm s sorry! Really!" Now she might flail in emvaressment.

She grins right back. "Thanks."

"Oh they had their leaders. I mean, there was Erik the Red. Guys like that made the Vikings a deadly people."

"Well, they have a collection of Miedievil weaponry, and some other odds and ends we haven't visited yet."

Phoenix flails a bit. "Oh no no no, don't worry about it! There's been worse images stuck in my head, believe me! It's silly, anyway." He's now trying to get a worse image stuck in his head for her sake. Speaking of silly...

He nods. "Makes sense. I guesse even cutthroats need someone to hold them together," he comments. "Though I still wouldn't want to meet them."

"Well, I think I can go a wee bit longer. Might as well check all that out." He's usually pretty tired after this long in a museum, and yet somehow he's not feeling it when he's with her. It's a very special feeling.

"Oh good. That was just so embaressing," she mutters lightly. "I don't know where that came from."

"Neither would I. They seem like a fearsome lot." She just can't get her head around some of the things she heard about them.

"All right, let's go then," she offers him her hand to take. The contact actually makes her really happy.

"Don't worry about it. I say weird things a lot myself. Sometimes even in court -- er, I mean..." Did he just admit that? He did. Whups.

He nods. "Yeah... though honestly some of the people in the Nexus could probably make them look like pacifists." He winces a bit at the thought.

He takes it, and off they go. So much left to see, so much time in the day. The medieval weaponry is first, since it was suggested, and there's a LOT of it, all of which he describes in detail. "Do you think there ever was an Excaliber?" he asks at one point.

She cocks her head in his direction. "...Really? That's...Neat. Makes me feel less weird."

"True. But I admit, I would so love to meet Thor." She grins brightly. "He was so cool!"

She's leaning on his arm just a bit at this point. Vut on't worry, she's still listening. "I think so. There have been so many things...It has to be real. I can't see it being just a myth."

He shrugs sheepishly. "Yeah, well, I've heard that the people who AREN'T weird in the world are the weirdos, so what can you do?" He wonders if this makes him weirder than anybody else in the Sanctuary. He hopes not.

"Wait around in the Nexus a bit. It's probably inevitable." He sighs. "You know, I've met Hermes? He doesn't act very godlike."

He nods. "At this point, I wouldn't be surprised anymore, honestly. I've seen so many things that should just be legends in the flesh since I came to the Nexus that the idea of anything NOT existing is stranger now," he says.

(( Wow! I didn't expect the thread to get this long. :D))

"Well...I'm personally used to weird. While I don't see myself as weird. I don't think anyone really does Pheonix." She grins once more. "Heck to me you seem normal but that's ok."

"...You met Hermes?" She grins very broadly. Fangirl? Why yes. For mythology. "So cool!"

She quitely stands there thinking. Then ends up nodding. "I totally agree with you. It's just...What's normal for us might be a myth for someone else. A myth for us? Fact for someone. It makes the multiverse very interesting."

((We're just awesome that way. X3))

"I'm going to take that as a compliment, frankly. I was beginning to worry the Nexus was warping me a little TOO much," he says, grinning.

He nods. "Yeah. He's very casual, actually. You wouldn't think he was a God if you didn't know. I haven't had a chance to talk with him TOO much, but he seems like a nice enough guy. Maybe if you're in the Sanctuary sometime, you'll get a chance to meet him." Was that an incentive? Ooh.

"Yeah. I found out the other day I'm apparently a video game character in another world. You can imagine how brain-breaking THAT was." He rubs his temples a bit as he thinks about it. "Nothing like finding out all the traumas and dramas in your life have been entertainment for someone else."

They seem to finally be running out of things to look at. He turns to her. "Looks like we're hitting the end of the line here..." He's vaguely disappointed. The time seemed to just fly by, somehow.

((XD And by the way? This plot that's going on has my attention. Will be fun to read seeing as I go on vacation on Saturday...))

She looks pleased. "Nice to see it isn't then. Besides, I think the Nexus just changes s a little."

"Cool. Sounds like he's better than other Gods." She might go there sometime. Of course this might take a little encouragement.

"Seeriously? That's pretty cool," she looks ammused. How can she not? That was pretty awesome.

"That..." She looks a bit deflated now. "Oh. Well...If we saw everything that's good. Right?" And here comes the shy smile again.

Date: 2007-05-15 09:23 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] wright-idea.livejournal.com
"I agree. I'm still not sure whether it's for the better or for the worse, though. I guess I should just be optimistic and say "better," he says.

"Well, I haven't really met many other Gods, so I couldn't say. He SEEMS nice, though, and he did get the anti-violence field working in the Sanctuary again, which is a big plus in my book." He sighs. Such a thing was definitely a necessity lately.

He frowns a bit. "You think so? I'm sort of weirded out by it myself. It means any joe schmoe could come up to me and know my life history based on playing a video game. But I don't know, maybe I'm interrogating this from the wrong perspective." He blinks. Where'd he come up with THAT phrase?

He smiles. "Well, if we hadn't it'd have been a good excuse to see you again, but I guess there's plenty of other ones." It's amazing how attached he's grown to her in this short period of time. It's oddly... liberating, somehow. And, well, if he gets more of that really cute smile, that's also a plus.

They head to the exit. "So do you want me to walk you back home, or...?" There's that little bit of him that doesn't like the idea of a blind woman walking herself home. The more RATIONAL side reminds him she probably does so on a daily basis. It's like a constant little war with him.

She grins slightly. "For me I'd say the better. Some stuff I wouldn't feel capable of doing if I hadn't been visiting the Nexus."

"The fact he did that is pretty cool. Speaks for the kind of person he is." She pauses and a frown crosses her features. "Is something wrong?"

"Well. They don't know everything I'm sure. And for all you know, you could be from a divergent universe. Not everything has to be like in thoes games. They're just repesentations of who you are Phoenix."

That gets a goofy grin from her. "Well we can always meet up there sometime too..." Oddly now she's looking forward to their next date. Normally she isn't looking forward to a date until shortly before it. This is a nice feeling.

"I'll just take a cab. The walk would take us forever. And...well, I think I'd be ready to pass out by the time we got back to my apartment." Well he doesn't have to worry too much. Usua;lly she has a friend, or takes a cab. Rarely does she actually walk by herself at night if it can be helped.

He nods. "It's been helping me gain a little more perspective into the grey areas, honestly. It's sort of hard to be judgemental when you have all the ranges of good and bad in pretty much everyone you run into. Though that isn't to say there aren't some people who are just plain dangerous." He furrows his brow as he thinks about it.

"Sort of," he says, sighing. "The Sanctuary's been having a lot of incidents with violence lately. Lots of crazy people and scary things. So the barrier being up can only improve the situation." He massages the bridge of his nose. "So I hope, anyway."

He rubs his chin. "Maybe. I haven't really played them at all myself, though. I guess they could be completely different from my life. But I'm not in any particular hurry to find out, frankly." Less he knows about the embarrassing secrets being shared about him, the better.

"Yeah, I think it'd be neat. And if it gets too weird we can just go back to my apartment or something." He blinks. Wait, how did that come off? "Dah, er, I meant to talk, or something. Take shelter from the weird. Yeah." Cough.

"If you're sure." Phoenix rubs the back of his neck. "I think I might take a bit of a walk myself before I head back. It's kind of neat being in a whole new world." He pauses. "Don't worry, I'll keep out of any area that looks bad." He lives in LA. He knows all about avoiding the bad areas.
