Come one and all to Gotham

Here is where everyone can find the place where Ivy met Phoenix for their date. Actually they might find her here too with a large dog on a leash. The dog looks to be a cross between a Saint Bernard and a German Shepard and is sniffing around. Of course it can't pick up on Phoenix's scent here. Too many people have been here. But Ivy brought her dog along just in case not many people appeared to investigate the missing defense lawyer. In all honestly she isn't sure what to expect.

But the city seems dark. Oppressing. And it holds many secrets and clues if someone is willing to look for them. Get ready folks, because this will prove to be an adventure.

Li is here, having entered through one of the nearby portals. Since he hasn't been here before, he couldn't very easily use his PINpoint. Plus, he thought he'd use the opportunity to do a little preliminary investigation. He didn't find anything of note - perhaps he came through the wrong way?

In any case, he approaches Ivy, noting her dog. "Hello."

The dog lifts his head and wags his tail. Just to greet the stranger. Then goes back to sniffing everything.

Ivy pauses then grins lightly. "Hello Li. Here to take a look as well?"

"Yes." Li nods, though Ivy can't see it. Unfortunately, while he'd like to make some kind of small talk while they wait to see if anyone else will show up, he really isn't feeling very conversational right now. All he can think to say is, "I hope we find him."

This is not going to be easy.

"If we're lucky we will." She goes silent for a few long minutes. Then finally sighs. "We should start looking for clues of some kind. I mean, we gotta start somewhere."

"Yeah." Li pauses for a moment and then looks around for a second. The portals are one block south and three blocks north - if he were Phoenix and wanted to explore the city he would have headed for the northern one in probably a roundabout fashion. "... Alright. I'm going to head north. Are you staying here, or...?"

"I'll stay here. There might be people who need directions or--Or something." She looks rather nerved up. But soon calms right back down. "Just stay safe Li. This city is deadly if you're not careful."

"I will. You do the same, okay? I'll be back in an hour or so if I don't find anything." And he's off, heading north. Or, at least, in a northish direction - having not thought to bring a compass he's actually using the museum entrance as a bearing.

"This isn't working," Li mutters to himself. Sure, he had only been walking for ten minutes, but he had already found the portal Phoenix might've used and wasn't sure where to go from there. What if Phoenix had taken a walk around the city, as Ivy had suggested? Where would he have gone? Li was quickly losing faith in his search and was starting to wonder what exactly he was doing all alone in an unfamiliar city, pretending to be a detective.

He can't give up now. Phoenix needs to be found, dammit, whether or not there are actually any clues. It wouldn't hurt to have someone else along who might know the man better, though. Taking out his PINpoint, Li presses a few buttons and waits for it to ping Edgeworth's PINpoint.

Novak appears. He's dressed in his old longcoat, which is dark brown, and buttoned up the front. He's also wearing huge army boots, which, if you could see under the bottom of the coat and his jeans, you could tell they'd been doctored to hold knives. He's got two in each, and a clever wrap around his lower right arm that holds one as well, sliding it into his hand with a flick of his wrist.

He's in human form, but he smells exactly the same. He notices Ivy and strides up to her, glancing around.

"Hey, are you looking for Phoenix too? Maybe we could split up somehow."

Ivy herself is wearing a red shirt under her long grey coat. And of course her usual dark pants and flats. She looks defenseless compared to Novak.

"Well. I was going to see if I could figure out which way he went. There are a few streets he would have possibly taken. Splitting up might not be a bad idea. Except I can't see anything that might have caught his attention."

Most people look defenseless next to muscular, 6'5, trenchcoated men. Especially those who are looking threatening on purpose.

Anyway, he restrains on pointing out the obvious that she can't see anything. He nods, though. "If you can tell me where, I can get there, I bought a friend of mine who can practically find his way around place he's never been before. He looks kinda funny - lizardman too - so it's way too crowded for him to come out here. He's on a roof."

Not in the tradtional sense. But she knows Gotham pretty well. And also her kinor spacial awareness but right now it won't be too handy. "All right, see the corner of 15th and Freedomnd? Start there. It's where he would have walked to from here if he was walking in a straight line."

Novak nods, putting his hands in his pockets as he glances down the street. There is one of those little ear-mics in his ear. If Ivy's hearing is good enough, she can probaly hear the murmur of a voice in it.

She can hear it. And is waiting for someone to actually speak to her. After all for now she's just going to be acting as a sort of guide to anyone who ends up showing up in Gotham who might need some kind of direction.

Kon entered the area, dressed in civilian clothes for once - plain black leather jacket, white t-shirt and jeans. He glanced around before spotting Ivy. "Hi..." He waved.

Which is a good thing. In this world Superman hasn't gotten killed quite yet. There would be a world of confusion if there was a clone of Big Blue running arund right now.

"Hello."

"Name's Kon, I'm here to help find Phoenix." The teen held his hand out to shake, and then remember that she was blind, d'oh! "Got an ideas about where he might've been when he vanished?"

She nods lightly. "Ivy. There are a few places...Would you like me to show you? There are a few logical points. It's mostly within a six block radius around here."

"Sure," He checked to make sure he was actually walking, as he stuffed his hands into his pockets. Gotham sure looks different from the ground, all dark and spooky!

And the dog? Seems to be ready to drag Iy along. But she has a tight grip on the leash and is guiding him in the opposit direction that Li went. She seems confident in this area of the city. She should be, she travles around here quite often.

"Don't worry. We're pretty safe this time of day."

While studying the PINpoint's inner workings in the hopes of finding a way to trace the missing Phoenix, Otto contemplates his own motivation for helping the lawyer and his friends, secretly worrying that his helpful behaviour is nothing more than a way to make himself feel like a 'better' person. Why else would an aging supervillain in such a tenuous situation take time off from work to chase red herrings and build gadgets with no real use on his own world?

The doctor's anguished navel-gazing is cut short by a ticking sound from a nearby console, a signal that the connection he and the others were desperately hoping for has been established. His own PINpoint displays the coordinates for a site on the Earth that Phoenix was last known to be on, and the nearest city center. Moments later, Novak's phone begins to ring.

"Novak... pick up, I've got him!"

"Not screening!" Novak picks it up, and does a little victory dance in the alleyway. "That's.. really super fucking awesome. Where is he? I'm waiting for Li and Edgeworth to come meet me, but when they're here we'll take off to .. ..Phoenix's hopefully where he is.. place."

Novak taps his foot and glares angrily down the alley.

At just about that moment, Li rounds the corner with Edgeworth in tow. He is blissfully unaware of how Edgeworth's conversation with Mia ended and, though it was mentioned to him that she'd be tagging along, he has no idea of the implications of such.

Besides, he's got more important things to worry about.

"Novak!" He doesn't want to quite yell, so he says this once he is within normal speaking distance. "Anything new?"

"Hey!" They find him with his mouth to his pinpoint. "I'm talking to Otto. He says he can locate Phoenix's pinpoint! Though he hasn't told me exactly where it is yet. I'm still waiting for that..." He grins, then into the pinpoint, "Well?"

Miles is dragged along with Li, scrambling to keep up. Boy he doesn't look happy, although it changes when there's promise of information on Phoenix's location.

Still on the phone with Novak, Otto explains, "You won't believe it- provided the rest of the PINpoint is still on his body, Phoenix is being held prisoner in Thailand." It's a little odd, hearing the grouchy doctor talk so animatedly.

"Look, just... stay where you are, see if you can phone the others. I'll be right there."


A moment later, Doctor Octopus materializes on the far side of the alley, a large briefcase clutched in one of his actuators.
