Here is where everyone can find the place where Ivy met Phoenix for their date. Actually they might find her here too with a large dog on a leash. The dog looks to be a cross between a Saint Bernard and a German Shepard and is sniffing around. Of course it can't pick up on Phoenix's scent here. Too many people have been here. But Ivy brought her dog along just in case not many people appeared to investigate the missing defense lawyer. In all honestly she isn't sure what to expect.

But the city seems dark. Oppressing. And it holds many secrets and clues if someone is willing to look for them. Get ready folks, because this will prove to be an adventure.

Novak appears. He's dressed in his old longcoat, which is dark brown, and buttoned up the front. He's also wearing huge army boots, which, if you could see under the bottom of the coat and his jeans, you could tell they'd been doctored to hold knives. He's got two in each, and a clever wrap around his lower right arm that holds one as well, sliding it into his hand with a flick of his wrist.

He's in human form, but he smells exactly the same. He notices Ivy and strides up to her, glancing around.

"Hey, are you looking for Phoenix too? Maybe we could split up somehow."

Ivy herself is wearing a red shirt under her long grey coat. And of course her usual dark pants and flats. She looks defenseless compared to Novak.

"Well. I was going to see if I could figure out which way he went. There are a few streets he would have possibly taken. Splitting up might not be a bad idea. Except I can't see anything that might have caught his attention."

Most people look defenseless next to muscular, 6'5, trenchcoated men. Especially those who are looking threatening on purpose.

Anyway, he restrains on pointing out the obvious that she can't see anything. He nods, though. "If you can tell me where, I can get there, I bought a friend of mine who can practically find his way around place he's never been before. He looks kinda funny - lizardman too - so it's way too crowded for him to come out here. He's on a roof."

Not in the tradtional sense. But she knows Gotham pretty well. And also her kinor spacial awareness but right now it won't be too handy. "All right, see the corner of 15th and Freedomnd? Start there. It's where he would have walked to from here if he was walking in a straight line."

Novak nods, putting his hands in his pockets as he glances down the street. There is one of those little ear-mics in his ear. If Ivy's hearing is good enough, she can probaly hear the murmur of a voice in it.

She can hear it. And is waiting for someone to actually speak to her. After all for now she's just going to be acting as a sort of guide to anyone who ends up showing up in Gotham who might need some kind of direction.

Novak turns and heads off. It feels oddly comfortable to put his brain to work like this, finding a kidnapper and a friend. Under that is the budding bloodlust mixed with fury he can feel towards Kon's clone. Half of him wants to just fall into it, bow his head and tear into Nok when he finds him. Wouldn't that be great? God, he hasn't eaten a person - a person who he killed, very recently, what with having a job and trying to look good so that amendment passed - in such a long time. He misses it, sweet, warm, bloody flesh.

He shakes that off. But it's getting harder to just forget, and depending on what state Phoenix is in, and what Nok is like... planning may be useless next to a combination of sheer fury and pure lizard instinct.

A voice crackles in his ear, a sharp reminder of what he's doing. He glances up to see a reptilian face, eyes narrowed in investigation. Leyin gives him a sharp glance of disapproval and dissapears back over the roof. Novak turns down an alleyway, eyes scrutinizing the bricks on either side - scratchmarks, any sign of struggle? Nothing. He kicks around in the trash and ducks out.

Was it always this hard, finding missing people? Kidnapping vampires didn't have pinpoints - the mere idea of it makes him grimace. He ducks into the next alleyway.

The gleam of metal catches his eye. Debris, maybe, but it.. well, it looks too shiny to be here forever. acutally, it looks pretty recent.

He bends down, moving the trash away and picking up his scrap. It looks oddly futuristic. And he knows that yes, maybe it's from a bad guy here, but something about it... it looks familiar. Wait..

He takes out his pinpoint, turning it over. It's an identical match. It's the communication of A pinpoint device. Don't know who's, but he can make a few good guesses on how someone could get the commuication part of their pinpoint torn off, battered, beaten, scratched, and found in a Gotham alleyway.

He calls Phoenix's pinpoint.

It rings from an inch away. He holds it out so Leyin can see it up on the roof. There's an approval in his ear.

He calls Li on his pinpoint about this. Hopefully Li'll found something.

Li had just had the idea to call the others when suddenly his PINpoint rings. (Is Novak psychic?! :O ) He checks the number and answers.

"Novak!" his voice might be a little loud going into the reciever, and it's clear from the tone he's excited about something. "We've found Phoenix's magatama!"

Novak winces. Expensive gizmo and little lizard voice in his ear is nice. LOUD LI PINPOINT VOICE IS BAD. "Hi, Li.. oh, that's good. What is a magatama? .. Tell me later. Either way, I have .. er.. half of Phoenix's pinpoint? Looks kind of banged up. Or a lot of banged up. I think I may be correct in saying Nok probaly dragged Phoenix across town." Frown. ".. 'We'? Weren't you searching alone?"

"Oeee. Where did you find it? I called Edgeworth in because, um..." he pauses in thought and then says, very quietly, "I don't have a spine."

From: [identity profile] nthelizard.livejournal.com
"That's okay." Novak nods to the pinpoint, though this is kind of ineffectual as Li is probaly across town. "Not having a spine is totally acceptable as long as you don't have to work for me." He can probaly hear the grin this time, though. "Anyway... I"m on..." He glances up, and directions are fed to him. "Baker and 48th. Where are you?"

"Couch Street, I think, somewhere between 49th and 50th." Not too far away, but still an oddly long distance. "Geez, how did his PINpoint get all the way over there?" he mutters.

He turns and talks to someone out of range of the PIN's microphone - presumably Edgeworth, and then says to Novak, "Okay. We'll look over here for a little while longer and then head in that direction."

Novak murmurs something outside of Li's range back, then frowns. "That's ..four blocks. Not.. that much, but I'd say it'd might be rough if you weren't in walking shape." He frowns at this. "You want me to come over there, or are you going to come here? I think - if Edgeworth is with you, then we need to tell.. Mia and Otto? about our discoveries."

From: [identity profile] clever--fool.livejournal.com
Li nods, a gesture which is entirely ineffectual when communicating by 'phone'. At least Novak can rest assured that he's not the only one stupid enough to do that.

"Okay. We'll call Mia, you call Otto? And we'll go over there because Edgeworth already agreed to that and I don't want to annoy him more than I already have by changing my mind."

From: [identity profile] nthelizard.livejournal.com
"Well it's good to know I'm not the only one annoying Edgeworth." A small chuckle. "Alright, head over. I'll chill and eat something." Oreos in pockets = best idea ever, by the way. "see you in a few."

He hangs up on Li and calls Otto. "Sir Octavius?"

It only takes a second for the man on the other end of the phone to pick up and respond. Even though Ock has probably been waiting for some kind of news from the Gotham investigators, his voice still comes out in a cranky snarl.

"What is it, Novak? Have you found something significant?"

From: [identity profile] nthelizard.livejournal.com
"Hey, one ring. That's pretty good. Anyway... yeah. Li found Phoenix's.. uh, Magatama, I think it's called - that stone thing on his bow when he's Sailor Objection? And I found.. uh, half of his pinpoint. They're four blocks away from eachother, so... clearly, they've been on the move. I don't know if you can do some sort of technological trace thingamabob, but ... you wanna see this stuff? speaking of, what're you doin'?"

Date: 2007-05-17 10:22 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] octopus-hubris.livejournal.com
Novak can practically see Otto's frown. "You were fortunate to find any trace of him, then... your discovery would definitely explain why he wasn't responding to phone calls.

"I've been working on a photon weapon designed to emu- forget it, I'll explain later. You're hoping that I might be able to trace Phoenix's location through the rest of his PINpoint? It's a long shot, and there's no guarantee that he has the rest of it on him, but..."

He pauses thoughtfully, then adds, "I suppose it wouldn't hurt to at least see what you've uncovered."

From: [identity profile] nthelizard.livejournal.com
"A weapon that shoots EMUS? okay, that's cool. .. sorry." Pause, laughter. "Dude, you are the technobrain of the rescue group. Just do what you can, okay? and explain it to me in simplest terms, with no complex atomic formulas. We'll probaly head back to .. the Nexus, or some other meeting point and discuss our findings."

Date: 2007-05-17 11:09 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] octopus-hubris.livejournal.com
"Alright, then... I'll see if there's a way to locate Phoenix's PINpoint by remote, and call you back once I know if it is impossible or if I've actually had some kind of success in determining his location on Earth. Phone me if you or the others have found anything more concrete."

A few moments later, Li rounds the corner with Edgeworth in tow. He is blissfully unaware of how Edgeworth's conversation with Mia ended and, though it was mentioned to him that she'd be tagging along, he has no idea of the implications of such.

Besides, he's got more important things to worry about.

"Novak!" He doesn't want to quite yell, so he says this once he is within normal speaking distance. "Anything new?"
