And there shall be music!
Jun. 15th, 2007 11:55 pmIvy had been fussing all afternoon. She couldn't help it. She was excited over her date. And expected that she and Phoenix would have fun. That is if he liked music. She did due to the fact that it wouldn't keep too much attention on her. She would admit that wearing dresses, especially ones made to hint that she has legs? Made her very shy because he might look. And if he looked that meant that well, she didn't want to continue along that line of thought.
Bad Ivy. No cookie. Instead she made sure Cedric wasn't jumping all over. Yah, he was her goof ball. And she had to admit the dog was a good distraction while she waited. She expected tonight would go well. So long as nothing too physically active happened. She had a feeling despite her feeling a whole lot better Phoenix might still worry just a little over her health.
Hmm, would it be ok for her to bring her cane to a Jazz bar? It was a nice one too. Not the typical one someone might picture. They actually served decent food too. She had lunch there once.

And there they are. She leads him into the club. Jazz club. The name seem easily forgotten. But the inside is lovely. Like out of a new kind of nori film, crossed with something right out of the heart of Gotham. Only fitting. Seems she got them reservastions at a nice table off to one side. One of the waitresses who is tastefully dressed leads them over to their table.
"What do you think?"

Date: 2007-06-18 05:14 am (UTC)Phoenix approves muchly.

Date: 2007-06-18 05:22 am (UTC)God his voice was nice. "That's great. Wait till you hear the music. It's...Well. It's something else," she gushes out excitedly.

Date: 2007-06-18 05:36 am (UTC)"How'd you find this place, anyway?" he asks idly, looking around.

Date: 2007-06-18 05:43 am (UTC)"Oh. I asked around. Then I recalled a few years ago a big shindig my family had to go to out here. This place was one of the places that my Mother hoped it was at. Um. My parents weren't as well to do as the rest of the Weaver family. This place is nicer without being way up there." She doesn't seem too bothered by that. But she doesn't think on her family too much. Ignores them if at all possible.

Date: 2007-06-18 06:36 am (UTC)He blinks. "Where does your family live? You sound like the area is pretty well-to-do," he asks. "Though, um, from the sounds of things, not a fun place to be."

Date: 2007-06-18 06:46 am (UTC)"My parents live in Metropolis. Um. We're pretty spread out. My family is pretty much um, loaded. Due to how brilliant we've always been as lawyers or scientests. At least tha's the impression I've always gotten. Hell. They treat me like I'm their next best thing. They have high hopes for me. I just wish they'd back off." She sighs just a touch. "I don't like attaching myself too strongly with them. That's all. I just want to be my own person."

Date: 2007-06-18 07:11 am (UTC)She pauses then chuckles. "Mayybe we should get some soda or something? The music usually starts up about now."
no subject
Date: 2007-06-19 06:20 am (UTC)He nods. "Yeah, for a start. Can't wait to hear it. You've been pumping it up so much." He grins.

Date: 2007-06-19 06:42 am (UTC)She ends up ordering a club soda. What will Phoenix get before the first set starts up?
no subject
Date: 2007-06-19 06:46 pm (UTC)Phoenix orders a coke. He'd order something alcoholic, but feels a little self-conscious about it when he hears what she orders.

Date: 2007-06-19 09:10 pm (UTC)Well she's trying to be good. She isn't too sure what the night has in store. She'd like to be thinking mostly rationally for now.
Oh and listen! The band has started up. Ivy is merrily listening as the music starts going.

Date: 2007-06-19 11:13 pm (UTC)Phoenix listens as well. "Wow, they really are good. Some bands just sort of make the attempt, but these guys really seem to know how to play." He taps his foot a bit to the song.

Date: 2007-06-19 11:52 pm (UTC)She flashes him a grin. "Yeah. I thought they were pretty sweet. It's like...I dunno. It's just really good."

Date: 2007-06-20 03:07 am (UTC)"I agree! Boy, you picked a GREAT place tonight." He grins. "Any recommendations on food, though? I'm starved."

Date: 2007-06-20 03:50 am (UTC)"Hee! Thanks. Um, the Chicken Marlasla is great. Of course. Everything they do here is pretty awesome."

Date: 2007-06-21 12:02 am (UTC)"So have you been feeling better? It's been a while since, um, that incident, so..." He rubs the back of his head. It has to be out of her system by now, right?
no subject
Date: 2007-06-21 02:26 am (UTC)"I have! I...can actually get around for the full day without feeling so sick or weak." She looks quite happy with that. And if Phoenix doesn't know this Ivy is doing this to make him feel better. Who knows, sometime he might have to make her feel better.

Date: 2007-06-21 05:50 am (UTC)He grins. "Great! Sounds like progress to me. CAn't let something like that get you down too long. You'll be back to normal in no time," he says. It's a relief to hear her say that; the idea of the effects being longterm did worry him a little.

Date: 2007-06-21 05:57 am (UTC)She chuckles lightly. "I probably all ready am. I haven't felt the need to nap directly after work for a few days."

Date: 2007-06-22 01:03 am (UTC)"Well that's REALLY good news, then. Let's hope nothing like that happens again, though. I don't think I could take it," he says shaking his head.
Song change, a new take on an old hit. Not that such a thing is unusual for jazz, but this rendition is pretty darned good.

Date: 2007-06-22 01:57 am (UTC)She reaches over to touch his hand. "I'll be careful. I promise."
She tilts her head when the song starts and grins brightly. 'I like this one', she mouths so she doesn' interupt the song with her voice.
