Ivy had a long day so she had locked herself in the bathroom to relax. After that she went to flop on her favorite couch. It was comfortable and wide enough that if her pets decided they just had to be with her she wouldn't get buried under a ton of pet hair.

She picked up a remote and pressed a button and the soft cords of a favorite Jazz CD filled the air. She hummed to herself and shut her eyes in a content manner. It was then she felt the young cat climb into her lap. She curled her lip for a moment and relaxed before she reached down to pet him. She had given up on teaching him her lap was not his lap but now she froze because something else had just started to climb up her leg.

She waited then reached over to figure out what this was. A kitten? What the shit is this.

Altair. Ivy demands an explanation for this. After it stops purring and being cute. Ah the big one is getting annoyed. They better not fight over her lap or else she is probably going to get annoyed.

Altaïr...was not looking forward to today. Yesterday he'd snuck in the kitten and now today...well, she had to figure it out SOME time.

So when he walked into room to find Ivy had in fact discovered the kitten, and was currently involved with both in a more or less settled manner--it was excusable to say he was loath to walk in and break the moment. It would have been so much easier to just avoid the confrontation and sneak back out...

Except Ivy has ears like a bat and a radar like sense for Altair. She goes from almost calming down to glaring right at him.

"Altair. Why do I have a kitten in my lap," Ivy asks in that sweet tone she uses when she wants to throw things at him but won't because he would see it coming from a mile off.

He froze when he felt the glare rather than heard the "sweet" intoned question. For a moment he contemplated making a run for it--Heaven knew Ivy couldn't catch him--but then he sighed and turned around to face the consequences like a real man.

"...Because it needed a place to stay," he replied. And, honestly, that was the truth.

Ivy frowns at him lightly. Now she isn't angry but the smaller kitten is purring under her hand. He is attempting o be cute too but the effort is lost on Ivy.

"Why here though? It's very young and I don't have time to keep watch over a young kitten," Ivy replies then makes a face and looks down. "Ow. Finger. No."

The kitten had started to nibble her finger to try and get her attention. The older cat seemed mildly entertained by this since it was not winning the young kitten any points.

It was odd but Altaïr found a tiny bit of humor in the kitten's attention grabbing ways, too, though he was quick to subdue it. It was simply that it reminded him of the other day when the creature had bit Ezio.

He kept that thought out of mind, attempting not to grow annoyed with thoughts of the other assassin, while he concentrated on the matter at hand with Ivy.

"...Because I did not know where else to take it. Besides, cats need no training."

"Not normally," Ivy replies. She knew the kitten would figure out how to use the litter box if it hadn't already.

She finds it difficult to stay annoyed at him for long. But there was one important thing she had to point out.

"You should have told me. It isn't good for someone to just find out they have another animal in the house. I mean I sort of expected the cat I got you to stay here."

The kitten will get some attention if only so Ivy can avoid having her finger chewed on.

"...I had not gotten here at a decent time the other day," he pointed out truthfully enough, at first avoiding the real subject before slowly going on, "but...I am here now."

He fidgeted slightly with his hands, his only trademark anxious behavior in an otherwise completely controlled demeanor. Whether he had really meant to tell Ivy now or not was up for debate.

Ivy quirks an eye brow then shrugs. "I suppose you are right. It's difficult to figure out just when it will be here at any given time when you decide to come."

Ivy will try to extract the cats from her lap now so she can stand. They won't move so she sighs and leans back against the couch. "It can't be helped. I suppose I don't mind the kitten. Does it have a name?"

"At least I can choose where I am going, when I want to go there now," he spoke up (even if he couldn't figure out when it was where he was going), finally taking a step into the room with Ivy's seeming calmer moment. But he didn't go much further than that when he saw her trying to stand, even if botched by the cats, he still hesitates.

"...Not that I am aware, no." He paused, uncertain what to say next or how to say it. "But it will soon enough likely."

"That's true," Ivy actually smiles over at him this time. "On the other hand, I can't seem to select where I go."

Ivy wrinkles her nose in confusion. "Do you mean I should name it?"

She doesn't even like it. Except it just might be cute. That shouldn't sway her so easily but she supposes it is because it is a young animal.

"I thought--I didn't realize." He paused. "As I could not before, and still find myself not always in control." He let out a sigh at that.

"...No!" Altaïr cringed at his own snappiness. "No... it's not mine, and...it's...not meant to be yours either, it just had no where to go and he really wanted to keep it..." He trailed off, turning his head away with a slight frown.

Ivy tilted her head and seemed to stare at him. Then she blushed more than a little. "Do you think I like loosing my canes to mud and roof tops?"

Buying more gets expensive and annoying. She also thought he had figured it out.

Oh so this was for a friend of his. She was learning to listen to his words rather than get that hurt look on her face when he said it in a harsh tone. Ivy hid a smile with a slight duck of her head. "Then I'll just call him what he is. Nothing more."

The silence between them seems so huge. She needs to let him know what she's feeling anyways so she fills up the silence like she always does. "Altair. I'm not angry at you."

Altaïr nodded in appreciation for her understanding. But when it came to her next admission he was struck by surprise and much like a deer in headlights froze. He didn't know what to say to that.

Finally, he lowered his head to his chest and very softly said, "Thank you."

Ivy makes a sound to let him know she had heard him. Then just lets her head dip and tucks hair behind one ear just so she'll have something to do with her hands.

The cats as of yet have not attacked her hair. good. She doesn't think she'll be happy if either of them decide that hair is a toy. "It's not a...Let's just not worry about it."

Okay, good the subject is closed.

Again Altaïr nodded. Then lingered for a moment as if to do something more before turning and leaving the room altogether.

Truly dropped and closed.

Huh she had the last word.

Well not really. She had just accepted things and moved on. Oh well. Now back to forgetting the day. The cats seem to be willing to play distraction.
