Ivy had gotten Altair a present a while ago she hadn't gotten to him. Every time they had ran into each other it was unexpected and very chaotic. Or just damn interesting for other reasons. She still had no idea how she was going to tell him she had something for him.

She frowns when the thing in question attacked her shoe again. There was purring of course when she reached down to scoop up the fuzzy ball. It didn't help her resolve that cats were evil when it curled up against her shoulder and continued to purr in one ear.

"Stop that," Ivy triers to order the young cat. "I don't like you. We've discussed this before."

Now it starts to rub his head against Ivy's jaw. Damn it, why her? Ivy is about to give the young cat a very stern lecture on why she doesn't like cats when she notes she isn't walking across wood floors. Nexus.

And she is in somewhat normal clothing. Ivy decides to find a place to sit. The cat better not try to run off.

Altaїr manages to find ivy pretty easily once he's in the Nexus. He pauses somewhat far away when he notices a bundle of white in her arms. It's moving. It's fuzzy.

...Should he flee?

He opts to approach instead. He glances down at the cat. "Huh."

The cat glances up and lifts his head to give Altair a curious sniff. Ivy tilts her head up and smiles briefly.

The cat moves around before sagging a little in her arms. He's not going to escape right now. Though it would be fun to make the lady who feeds him flail.

"Um. Hi."

Altaїr tilts his head in a slow nod. He stares at the fuzzball.

"What's with the feline?"

Ivy purses her lips then sighs. "A couple weeks ago there was a...holiday back home."

She clears her throat carefully while the cat lazily kneads her sleeve."People normally exchange gifts so I uh...Cat."

The cat glances up at Altair. New person to play foot tag with.

And now Ivy its starting to slowly blush. It's all the damn cat's fault, she swears.

Altaїr's not quite seeing the connection here. He doesn't get it. Who gave her a cat?

"Cat? Yes, what about the cat? Someone gave you a cat? Don't you prefer dogs?" Oh, look. Someone has paying attention. Maybekindasorta.

Now Ivy's more sure of her words. Though it is interesting that he might know she liked dogs more. It's nice too.

"Uh, no? I got the cat. For you." There she said it. And now there is less of a chance of her getting flustered.

Altaїr simply stared at her for a moment. There wasn't a frown or furrowed brow or even a noise; just a simple stare, not even a glare, that easily conveyed his feelings towards the matter.

...What in her right mind thought he wanted anything to do with an animal? A pet. Something he had to take care of. The hawk was one thing. It was useful, and it mostly took care of itself when he loosed it. But a cat?

"Why would you get me a cat?"

Why wouldn't he want a cat? They take care of themselves largely. Well, this one seems happy to try and steal the cream she puts in her morning coffee.

Wait, he doesn't have time for a cat. She hadn't thought of that.

"Um. It seemed like a good idea at the time and I hadn't really thought it all the way through." She gives him an apologetic smile. "I can't just give him back? He's sort of cowed the dogs into submission. And...He's very stealthy."

Seriously. How many times has she ended up with him batting her hair when she was reading in the last week?

Stealthy? Altaїr tilted his head to the side curiously. Was that her way of trying to win him over?

He eyed the cat down from his superior height, a fierce stare penetrating through the white cowl.

The cat stares back in an uncaring fashion. Then it begins to wash itself. Altair to the cat is the most unimpressive human ever. Not even mildly entertaining.

Ivy shifts the weight of the cat. He murrs a little annoyed his perch dared to move but he takes no action against her.

He shifts his gaze back to Ivy. "Keep him at your place."

It wasn't as if he didn't drop by there anymore anyway; it just wasn't a permanent thing, or as after anymore, that's all.

Ivy quirks a small smile. "All right."

The cat shifts looking like it is going to coil to jump up on his arm. Altair looks like a fun perch for a cat anyways.

...I guess she won after all.

Altaїr watches the cat, his eyes perceptive enough to notice its shift in balance, but makes no move.

If wining counts having another pet underfoot.

The car coils for another minute then tries to jump up onto Altair's shoulder.

In this case it's the closest it gets.

Again Altaїr makes no movement. At least not until after the cat has made his; the assassin reaches up with the opposite hand to steady the beast's footing, not quite touching since the cat is a creature of balance and doesn't seem to really need his aid. He shifts his shoulder a bit, though, and the feline objects. Altaїr side-glances at it.

"Shush."

Ivy's mouth curves into a smile. That just sounded amusing.

"He got up on your shoulder then?" She asks while peering over. She is treated by a cat nose poking at her.

"Oh. Well that answers my question." She won't admit that she is slowly becoming fond of the creature.

Altaїr simply stands there like his usual statuesque self. He gazes at Ivy silently, watching her interact with the cat. Since she requires no answer to her question as it is answered for her... he stays quiet. His hand also returns back to his side. It's not as if he plans on petting it or anything. Right not its not a burden simply because he's used to a hawk being in its place on any given day anyway.

Ivy is trying hard to not smile because of the cat. She wasn't ready to indulge the cat's need for attention since she doesn't even like cats.

"At least he isn't...clingy."

"Clingy?" the Assassin repeats. Altaïr seems to frown for a moment but the question was obviously rhetorical. He understands what it means, more or less. "...I see."

"Well, he doesn't need to be held often. Nor does he require that I leave my lap free for him to invade that often" She will not admit she ended up giving up a dress shirt because the cat kept stealing it off a hanger to sleep on it.

It was possible that something like that might make Altaïr laugh. On the other hand, it was just as likely to elicit a blank stare as well so it was probably for the best she didn't admit it. It wouldn't have been an approving stare.

"Ah, I see," he repeated. That was for the best as well. Altaïr likely would not put up with anything that wanted his attention twenty-four/seven.

She got that from his tone. It had her smiling since it was predictable with him. He was not the sort of man who put up with creatures who couldn't be independent.

That might explain their odd thing. She wouldn't think about that for too long.
