Work, what work?

Why yes Ivy had work. Only it completely drained her. Then she had to go shopping. Because she was taking what people in the Nexus said seriously. She managed to find some thing. Buy them. Then pass out in her bed for a short nap.

Only to get dragged out. By her dog. She grumbled and got her shoes back on. It was time to take him for a walk. So she did. Let him drag her to every tree he wanted to visit. Then was very happy to go home. She's resting her feet on her couch now. Feel free to bug her. Just don't ask for walks. Or she'll hit you with her cane.

Phoenix sits up a bit at this. "Really? How'd that go for you? Does this mean you're feeling better?"

She sighs a little. "I thought I was. I got pretty tuckered out...Then had to do some shopping. Shopping in itself can be a chore. But I'm fine."

He frowns a bit. "I guess it's a bit much to expect your system to be back up to normal after what happened. Don't strain yourself too much, okay? I mean, it'd be tempting to dote on you while you're weakened and all, but I definitely prefer you healthy." Good lord, you can hear the grin over the phone.

Phoenix ponders. "By the way, I figure I should give you the heads up -- you've got your very own alternate now." He sighs, shaking his head. LOL Nexus.

She's flailing just a bit. "Not you too! Everyone at the office has been Mother Henning me. I don't mind it so much but...I guess I'm really used to taking care of stuff myself." She can hear it. "...I'll be careful though. Ok?"

"I--What?" Oh the confusion is thick in her voice. "I...don't. Wait. What? I'm. I'm confused here."

"Well, it's kind of natural, considering you survived being poisoned. But if you'd rather not hear it, I'll try to restrain myself. Though I have to admit the emphasis is on 'try,'" he says, the last bit somewhat sheepishly. "But yeah, do be, please. You may be used to taking care of yourself, but that was at full strength."

He sighs. "An alternate of you. Believe me, she confused me too for a bit, until I found out she doesn't live in Gotham. Crazy, huh?"

She dips her head a bit. "Well I don't mind from you. It's just from other people, that's all. And I'll be careful Phoenix. I always take care of my health."

That has her laugh. "Not really. I almost didn't move out to Gotham. It was just...chance I guess."

"Huh, I get special privilege eh? Score. Don't worry, I won't boss you around too much, but I do worry, you know." He shrugs. "But I trust you too, so, uh, yeah."

He ponders this. "Well, that's something new. Yeah, I didn't get many details out of her; honestly, the whole encounter was a little awkward. Still, just thought I'd let you know in case you get people asking about you being places you weren't," he says. He can't say he's had that problem with his own alternate -- but then again, his alternate has a very, er, distinctive dressing style.

"Of course you do. We are um, dating after all. I know. And...I get worried about you too. You sound better though." That gets a small grin. "Thanks for trusting me."

"Yeah. But thanks for the heads up. I don't think I'll have to worry too much. Not alot of people in the Nexus really know me. Just you and your friends...Along with a couple od mine."

"Yeah, I feel better. Had a lot of people telling me to get over myself, really. And, well, I had a chance to talk with Mia, and knowing she doesn't hate me forever seems to have helped." He coughs. "Anyway, rather than mope over it, I'm going to help where I can. It's better than sitting around anyway."

He nods. "Okay. Well, she doesn't seem like a bad sort, so that's good at least. Last thing ANYBODY needs is an evil alternate." Phoenix knows he has one. He's just thankful he's never met him, and never WILL.

She beams brightly. "That's excellent. I was trying to think of ways to make you feel better." Though she may slowly inact some of the ideas people gave her anyways. "So what will you be doing?"

"I hope she isn't evil. I don't need to deal with that. Though...How much harm could she do?" Ivy laughs. "I'm not a threat to anyone in the grandsceam right now anyways."

Phoenix shakes his head. "At this point? Offer advice, materials, whatever she needs. She's got her own legal issues at the moment, so any way I can help her has got to be good." He ponders. "And hopefully, she won't try to push me away again... but I'm gonna remain optimistic for now."

"Well, you never REALLY know with alternates, but she didn't seem godlike. Actually, she mentioned something about a teacher, so, uh..." He chuckles nervously. "Anyway, can't be any worse than being confronted with yourself at a younger age, like me."

"I see." She snuggles into the couch. "Anything that you can do you will do then, I'm guessin. Hope she doesn't push you away again."

She giggles. "I guess that isn't that bad. I mean I haven't met her. So I'm not going to worry about it."

He nods. "If all I can do is be there for her, that's what I'll do. We changed things big time, so I really don't have any idea what the future holds for her anymore." A sigh. "But I suppose that's almost for the best."

"Yeah, that's probably for the best." Mentally, Phoenix ponders how many jokes he's going to get about this. He's already been put on the spot by Alis about the idea of "two girlfriends," and really doesn't need someone with a less innocent mind making the suggestion.

"Don't take this the wrong way but...I think it is. It gives her the chance to make her own future. With out worrying about your past becoming it."

She bites her lip, then decides to go for it. "Alternates aside, when do you think you'll be free next? Say eveningish on the weekend? I kinda have something in mind. You might enjoy it."

Ivy's words play around in his head for a bit. "...I think you're right. Things are so different for her now anyway that even if I DID get some notion of trying to make things like timeline, it's probably impossible. And, well, it'd probably make it easier to see her as a friend rather than as an alternate...." He trails off a bit, then shakes his head. "Crazy thing, Nexus."

"Huh? Yeah, I should be free..." He blinks. Something he might enjoy? What? "When did you wanna meet, exactly?"

This gets Ivy to feel much better. "Well she is your friend. Even if she isn't from your Earth. And all you...can do is be her friend." Oh that gets a laugh. "Yeah. Crazy Nexus."

Ivy grins lightly now. Ha. "Well it should be fun. Um. Wear something, nice? It's a surprise. Meet me at my apartment, sixish. Saturday night,"

"That about sums it up. I just hope things go right for her from now on." He sighs. "Frankly, I should think things can only go up at the moment."

He grins. "Sounds good. I'll be there." Though he's wondering what exactly the surprise IS.
