Coffee meeting

And here is the Nexus cafe. Well the one Ivy had told Daniel about. And she's running late. Had to drop off a report with a Professor so she could skip a final due to her grade being high enough. The fact she could not study as much? Made her happy. But she stops and waits to see if the person she should be meeting is here. After all, she was late. She'd applogise for that but it couldn't be helped too much.

Ivy had nearly jumped out of her skin. But she's had years of schooling her features so folks don't feel guilty over not wearing bells while she's around.

"...Is that you Daniel?" She tilts her head curiously. After all she hadn't heard his voice before and voices tend to catch her interest.

"Yes, it's me. It's a pleasure to meet you in person." Daniel would feel a bit guilty if knew that he'd startled her. He's very much a gentleman.

"The chair is right beside your left hand."

She grins lightly. "Nice to meet you too."

She nods her thanks and pulls out the chair so she can sit in it, and pulls itcloser. Shhe has her cane folded up without much thought and has it stuffed in her coat quickly. She doesn't like leaving it hanging around. And her coat? Is off. Coffee shops are too warm to wear coats.

"Hope I didn't keep you waiting long. Had to drop some stuff off."

"No, not long at all. I was using the time to catch up on some paperwork." As he says this, he's putting things away in folders and moving them to another chair.

She grins lazily. "That's good. I'm usually not late but my pschology Professor had questions about my citations. Err...It was a class on super villans actually. I come from an Earth that well, I've heard people say comes from a comic book."

And she's rambling again. She really should stop that.

Daniel doesn't mind the rambling, he does enough of it himself. "I think there's a class like that at the school where I teach. My world is apparently a television show, so I know the feeling."

She tilts her head curiously. "Huh. Well this is a nexus. Anything is possible. I mean, I ran into someone I thought was an urban legend in the Nexus. It prooved me wrong big time."

Daniel grins a bit. "I'm an archaeologist, and one of my co-workers is Indiana Jones."

And there's a tiny squeak! "...Seriously?...Please be joking. I watched the movies on my world like, a gazillion times before umm..The accident."

Daniel chuckles. "Definately not joking. I barely managed to not ask for his autograph. Or Professor Skywalker's."

A large grin passes over her face. "Yeah I would too. Your world must be pretty interesting."

Well, had to be. But the same could be said for her world too. After all, she grew up in Metropolis. The home of Superman. That was pretty darn cool. Though he'd only started up about ten years ago. So it wasn't as big as it would be if she were a little younger.

"I guess you could call it interesting. I travel to other planets through a large metal ring, battle aliens who think they're gods, and routinely save the world."

"Well. We don't have aliens with god complexes. But we do have aliens who try and attack Earth for different reasons. This one group is in search of something they call the 'Anti-Life equasion'. It got pretty bad in the areas they attacked. But...No giant metal rings for us." Though she wonders what the giant ring would look like. And of course the picture that comes to mind isn't much like the real stargate.

"Anti-life equasion? What is that?" Curiousity didn't kill the cat, it took over Daniel Jackson.

"Basicly from what we know, it's an equasion that if anyon finds the answer to it theorticlly...It would wipe out all the life in the universe. And seriously.? I don't get why Darkseid wants it. Just that he's the ruler of a world that could be seen as a form of hell. He rules it with an iron fist. Always has from what I understand. And he's more powerful than anything that we can stand against. He also has an army of these..creatures called Pera-demons." A diisgusted look falls across her face.

"Too many people died in that attack. We were lucky. The people of a world that has always stepped in saved our asses. Along with a hundred members of the Green Lantern Core. Neither group wants Earth to become a pawn in Darksied's search for the Anti-Life equasion. But...the Core can't step in full time. They're more of a glatic police force. Can't be every where at once."

"That sounds a lot like dealing with the Goa'uld. They want to rule because they can, because it amuses them to impersonate gods and control people."

She crooks a brow. "Thet've never met real Gods then. We're pretty much postive that the old gods were real. They just don't take a very active role like they used to, except for a few campions they've hand picked now and then." She grins at thwe though of a "Gou'ld" meeting one of the figures that made up her Earth's mythology.

Daniel chuckles. "Oh, I've met a few that were the reason for our god myths. Their technology is amazing, which made it rather easy for them to impersonate our gods."

She wonders vaugely what would happen if Darkseid ever teamed up with the Gou'ld. Then quickly banishes that thought. Something like that would end badly for someone. "Sounds like a dangerous bunch. And the fact they could pretend to be gods makes sense."

Daniel would cry if that happened. Or throw a huge rant and kill something. Because... yeah.

"Most of the good ones found ways to protect their followers from the Goa'uld, but their race was having their own problems, so they couldn't protect everyone."

Or he could get in contact with Superboy Prime and have him punch reality like he did that one time. It might retcon out the Gou'ld Darksied alliance! Wait. That would cause other things too which would be even worse!

"Hmm. It just...Seems rather strange comparedto what I'm used to hearing about."

"I could tell you about the Ancients and being ascended, but that would take most of the next week."

She gawks in the way that only a blind person can pull off. "Do you realize how much coffee I'd have to drink to fivus for that long? I'd impode from the caffine over dose! Or need to let my dog drag me all over the Upper-East end of Gotham. Let him discover all the trees he hasn't yet sniffed..." Now she's off on a random tangent!

Daniel chuckles. "I have a special blend of expresso that could keep anyone up for days."

This causes her to perk up. "Really? I know people that would sell their souls for such a gift from the Java Gods."

"Really. A friend of mine is a nuclear physicist. We're also collegues with several scientists who deal with alien plant life. They ...tinkered with some of the more expensive coffee beans."

"That's just twenty kinds of awesome. So long as the beans don't gain intelligence that is. Because stuff like that has happened. At the labatory where my father work a alien fungus happened to contaminate an Earth fungus...Bad things happened. It tried taking over the lab."

"We had that happen with an alient vine. It reacted to the flourescent lighting and grew at a thousand times its normal rate. Killed the main power before they got it under control."

"Wow. Sounds like there are alot of similar events in different realities. I just never thought on it very much."

"I think most universes have similar events, they just happen in different manners. Think of the wars that seem to happen in every universe."

"Like the American civil war...Or World War II." She pauses then grins. "You probably didn't have the JSA."

"Nope. And you probably don't have the SGC or SGA."

"Nope. Never heard of them. Though the latter sounds like a youth group. But I figure it isn't."

"The SGA is Stargate Atlantis. Which is actually in another galaxy."

Now she's rubbing her chin thoughtfully. "I have few frames of refrence to understand that. Some things...but. That's still pretty darn surprising for me."

"It's in the Pegasus galaxy to be exact, if that helps."

"It doesn't really. While I recognize the name I can't visulize it up here." She taps the side of her head.

"The next galaxy over from ours. It actually has several dozen inhabitable planets."

"Oh?" This causes her to tilt her head. "Hmmm. Don't know if it's the same back in my reality. Still interesting though."

"We need more coffee," Ivy decides and moves to flagg downn a waitress and get a pot of coffee. She didn't know anbout Daniel but right now? She was living off of coffee to get through everything. Wasn't exactly healthy to do but she'd let herself crash at some point.
