Playing both hands

This trail was driving Ivy nuts. She knew with every fiber of her being the accused was guilty. She could tell by the evidence. She had been at this long enough to know when someone was guilty. But she knew it would be hard to do much of anything with Glenn as his defense.

She hated that Glenn was just as good as her. Better even because he had charm while she was more like an Ice Queen here.

That was what had her on her feet quick as she could for her next deflection. Did he just use Edward Nygma versus Gothan City, July 2002? Oh hell no.

"I object Your Honor. In that case it was thrown out latter as it turns out Mr Nygma was never a flight risk. The Court had every right to assume that Mr Whitaker was a flight risk while he continued to take his medication, which he has access to and has been reported as taking." Oh ex-hubby of hers do not make her forth with rage outside of court, she likes to keep her cool. She knows he will know he just got under her skin here.

"Uh, huh..." His eyes dart around. Ivy's ears are like radar. If she's in earshot, he'll be in trouble. He was told it was a wife thing.

"Let's do the customer service in my office," he says, starting to lead Big Mike to the elevator.

Her ears have bat-like radar almost. It's why it's hard to catch her off guard.

"Office?" Mike is confused for a moment but nods. "Oh yeah sure pal, the Office."

Ivy finished wetting her throat and had a sudden sinking feeling. Oh Glenn she knows you too well.

Which is why she notices, for him taking only one floor up, he takes his sweet, sweet time on that ride.

"So what's going on with the services, Mike?
Everything in-"

He doesn't get the rest of the sentence out. Big Mike and the hands on his lapel have more than a little to do with that.

Which is why she takes the stairs. She is feeling stern and annoyed with Glenn again by the time she gets up there.

"Order? Yeah if the god damn wires hadn't been faulty. Couldn't hear a damn thing in Marone's office. What kinda game are you playing?"

And Ivy caught that. If she could shoot Glenn with heat vision like a superhero everyone knows she would have if the look on her face said anything.

It takes effort not to roll his eyes. "Did you turn it on? It's a small blue switch."

"Uhhh..." That's a no Glenn. "Whoops?"

Ivy is also not impressed. Even less so with what she hears next.

"Sorry about that Mr Weaver. This is my first time tapping someone."

"Okay, Mike, now what you are going to do -" Glen begins to fuss with the wrinkles on his suit after releasing the elevator's pause button. "Because there will be a ADA on the other side of this door..."

The elevator dings.

"No, no it...With your arms around your girl! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a4P_qAMAnKs) Try it with me..."

Complete with dance step and Ivy being swept up into the act as Columbia - at full volume.

"Hot Patootie, bless my soul! I really love that Rock and Roll..."

"That dame you were with before?" Big Mike is at least aware of where all the pretty looking women are.

Ivy hadn't heard everything. Enough to have her suspicions raised but then Glenn had her caught up in whatever the hell he was doing.

At least she could still keep up with him. Not that she wanted to. She could feel her face heating up. "Gle--Councilor. What the hell are you doing?"

"Mike's on at the Bowery theater in a week, Pop - Counselor." He begins to fidget with his tie, making eye contact with those around him, including some female "audience" members who are a bit impressed with musical theater apparently. He's still dangerously close to Ivy. Realizing that is when his nerves actually bother to make an appearence.

"Just...showing him the ropes. Boosting his confidence."

Mike, of course, has taken the moment to scram.

"Uh-huh," she says in totally disbelieving tone. She doesn't buy that for a minute. "They'd never cast someone like him in that role, Councilor. If he can pull off that role? Why then clearly I must be moonlighting as Catwoman."

At this point she is dripping with sarcasm. In situations like this she uses it like a blunt instrument. She doesn't care that they're close still Glenn has her heckles raising again.

She hates it when he lies to her.

"Wow, whips and claws in front of all these nice people, Councelor?"

That was either on the line or over. Not sure which and it more of an academic question than not. He clears his throat.

"Plea bargin in Room 108?"

"Only the usual for you, Councilor," she deadpans calmly.

She had even gone blank faced. That pretty much showed how much she was unimpressed by him right now.

"After you. I do try to remain fair in my dealings after all."

"Fair? Around here?" Back to the regular work-related verbal jabs. Ah, nuts. He has to let her know as she walks past him into the door he opens for her out of habit. "It's appreciated. Especially when you think I don't notice."

"Well if I'm not fair then I'm not doing my job right," she felt the need to point out.She doesn't protest the door being opened she just raised her eyebrow at him.

"I know you well enough to predict most of your reactions Councilor. It's an unfair advantage."

He doesn't respond with a witty comeback. What's the point when she's right? His briefcase flips open as he settles himself down just as his client walks in.

"All right, Councilor. Mr. Witaker, is here to talk, so he needs to know what the DA is willing to live with..."

"Oh of course Mr Witaker," Ivy nearly cooed because she was feeling wolfish though there was no reason for him to be afraid.

Carefully she outlined what the DA wanted. He would receive full out patient treatment and be on probation pending the doctors finding a treatment that worked for him and kept him level for rehabilitation to the satisfaction of the Court.

"Does that work for you?"
